Heroes

So Season 3 kicked off with a bang last night. :D Anybody else excited that it's back?

My wife and I watched the last two seasons religiously. I'm pleased to be able to watch it again, but not excited. While I enjoy the show, it's another drain on my time. :)

Heroes isn't a drain on mine, but soon Dexter and The Office will start up again... *then* my time will be drained. :p

Why do these shows have to be so damn good?
  • edited September 2008
It's one of those shows I wish I started watching but didn't and would be completely lost if I started now.

My guess is that, because they're already good, they seem really good when compared to the abundance of crappy shows the networks try to foist on us these days.

    Hm.

Honestly, this season is starting of REALLY well.

...the problem is, last season did too.

    And well.

    That finale sucked.

    So....

    I'm mixed.

    Heh, ain't that the truth?

The worst part is that I've just started getting hooked on serial dramas, so I know there's probably a dozen more similar shows out there that, were I to start watching them, would keep me eternally glued to my couch.

I don't watch a lot of TV. But one show I'll watch damned near religiously is Heroes. Yes, so awesome! I am hoping that this season has consistently good episodes, unlike S2 where it was kinda hit or miss.
    WTF @ SURESH

    Amen to that spoiler!

It seems to me that Season 2 suffered from the writers strike. It was too short to properly flesh out the plots it had running. Were it a full season, I think it could've been better.

I'm thankful for Tivo, which makes watching the few shows I really want to see much more convenient.

Yeah, DVRs are a godsend. Especially in those instances of shared time slots.

Really? I am of the exact opposite persuasion. When I saw the first episode of season 2, I thought it was absolutely horrible, but I at least somewhat enjoyed the final 4 episodes. Regardless, Season 3 is starting off very very very well compared to the last one, with non-stop action and a lot of questions to be answered. It feels more true to the first season, but that season had a crap finale so...

If I remember correctly, the S1 finale wasn't actually planned; Tim Kring hadn't planned for the show to take off like it did, so the ending had to be changed to allow for additional seasons. So it ain't entirely his fault!

I guess you could say the same about Season 2, as well. What with the writer's strike, and the fact that it was only half of a season...

    ...

No. On second thought, there is no excuse for Hiro's storyline in S2. None at all.

I'm hoping that Season 4 doesn't start off with
someone traveling in time to the future and seeing a major metroplolis laid to waste and under crazy government control
. Because they've done that three times now.

There was one (and only one) saving grace for that: Eriko Tamura (so hawt).

I second that. But then, we already have Ali Larter, Kristen Bell, and Dania Ramírez, so the show isn't in any dire need of eye candy. :p

I didn't mind Hiro's S2 storyline at all. What I mind is the inconsistency in the writing of Mohinder's character, and the fact that Maya and her brother would've made for a very interesting four or five episode story arc, if limited to that.

I also think Kristen Bell's character shows the most promise for quality character growth at the moment.

Yeah, Suresh becomes less and less interesting to me with each season. Also, I'm glad it looks like Noah Bennet will have a bigger role again. He was marginalized a bit during S2, which was too bad.
  • edited September 2008
Suresh was never particularly interesting to me, despite his pivotal role in the story. Noah is definitely far more interesting, since he's not as far pushed towards good or evil as the other characters tend to be.
  • edited September 2008
Ah, how could I forget Noah! Easily my favorite character on the show.

    I absolutely love Heroes.
My favorite scenes are the ones where Claire gets hurt and regenerates.
These scenes are cool and interesting.

To tell you the truth, I am loosing interest in the series... Because they cant seem to come up with anything original, I lost count of how many things they stole from other stories in the first episode. (even doing things they have already done before)

Including yet another season beginning round of... "Wheres peter?"
    also featuring... (yet again)
    - Bullet time
    - The black smoke
    - suicidal Clare
    - Clare getting attacked
    - the dead coming back to life
    - and lets not forget... "sylar, I am your (Father) mother!"

And don't even get me started on suresh, they are just trying to make him interesting by giving him (long overdue) powers... (although, trust me, it don't take superpowers to make one good in bed.. which is pretty much all we have seen him do)

The show is a little easier to follow now, but they better start coming up with some original stories, or I am going to stop watching... again

Personally, I've long been holding out hope that they
would not give Mohinder or Ando powers. The show needs some normal people for balance. But it seems they've let me down there.

I'll say this about Mohinder, though: the one consistent thing about him is that when he runs into trouble, he always decides to quit and run back home.

Heroes season 3 was really awesome as I’ve watched the 2 premiering episodes all in one go. woooo
  • edited September 2008
    Season 1 was incredible.
    Season 2 was bad.
Season 3 has started worse than season 2.

It basically did the 'Prison Break' move. One good season, then stop writing intelligent and start writing money milking episodes that lead nowhere and are utterly confusing and without logic.
  • edited September 2008
I don't know, Linque, I feel that S3 has started off in a fairly intelligent manner.
Sylar finally has his powers back, and of course is going to try and get as many powers as possible, especially Claire's, so that he wont lose those powers again. Since time travel is allowed, of course there is going to be a bunch of influences from people from the future trying to change the past (even though that plot device has been used in the series many times before). I thought this episode set up a lot of events to be resolved, making me not feel like it was going nowhere like I felt with S2.
But this is just my opinion, though it makes me sad to see someone thinks this season started worse than the last, seeing as I absolutely hated the first episode of S2.

I think this season is shaping up pretty nicely. The characters seems to have got a few more needed layers of personalities this time around, and it feels as they are, all in all, building up to something much grander.

Just hoping that they aren't just going to destroy it again in the final episode. (this feels exactly like something I as well could've said during season 2, but this time I really mean it, I think.)

Heroes is awsome and the new season looks pretty cool, but I can't wait till the new LOST season is on the air.
I hear Locke is going to come back from the dead.

    I like
rehabilitated Sylar. Everything points to him still being evil, but then he does or says something that makes you think he's really turned good.

    Noah and Sylar's
relationship could make for entertaining and interesting viewing. I hope we see more of them working together.

I'm getting sick of Peter's self righteous whining

I wish they'd made more use of Mica and his cousin in season 2, this season it doesn't look like they'll play much part at all.
I wish that Maya's brother had had a little more of a role but alas.

I have to admit, i'm partial to the mad scientist jeckle and hyde/the fly thing even if it has been done to death. It could be fun to watch the decent into darkness, as that's supposed to be the theme of this season right?

Overall, I enjoyed season 2 but it was a little lack lustre, it felt rushed toward the end and in fact, was thanks to the writers strike. I'm enjoying season 3 so here's hoping these tangled webs start to make sense some time soon hehehe.

I love ando, I really do.. he's so long suffering lol.
