What's that odd growling sound?!

edited October 2008 in Sam & Max
Playing episode 104:

This might have been addressed before, but what the heck is that realistic sounding snarl/roar/growl-ish sound I sometimes get when visiting Sybil's store??? Almost jumped through the roof first time I heard it, thought I'd imagined it until I heard it again today.

Can't seem to recreate it either.

Time to see a shrink, or is it really there?

It's the tiger clock, I think.

    Neat feature, my opinion.

I always assumed it was the stuffed fox. It just seemed so appropriately illogical and creepy.

when the hands hit five after 1 o'clock it goes off. One of the DVD commentary tracks talks about how there's animation that goes along with it and it takes about five minutes for the hands to rotate all the way around into positon again.

Of course -- the tiger clock!

    Thanks, I should've known.

Love what they say about that clock, btw.

"Hey Sam, if it keeps getting later and later -- then how come it's sometimes early?!"

"That's one of life's biggest mysteries, little buddy."

This might be my imagination, because I thought I've seen the tiger's pupils move whenever it growls.

    I've seen the claws move...

I actually never understood that until now.

    Possible 203 spoilers

When Sybil was taking suitors I spoke to Harry Moleman. When I asked if he had a chance he replied, "I'm in it to win it" immediately followed by the tiger growl. It was coincidence but hilarious.

I hear a repeating sighing noise in there, what is that?

Thanks for solving the growl mystery, though.

I think that's just part of the music.
