I would have left her too. Killing her wouldn't bring Carley back, she needed to be able to come to terms with what she did.

I don't think she's a bad person, she just snapped. I wouldn't kill her, but I wouldn't take her with us either.

  • Anyone who kill her is the same as what the corrupted thing Lily did. I forgive her because she didn't mean to kill Doug :( and she has previously gone through a high ordeal. If people hate her for killing Carley, I can understand but Lily cared about the group and is someone you can slowly start to trust again (if she got her shit together). Its apocalypse world so there isn't many people who you can trust other than the ones you already know.

If people hate her for killing Carley because they love her... grow up people, she is an animated women and not someone you love.

  • I mean I hate Lilly, and i'm not even that big of a Kenny fan so it's nothing to do with that but I surely wouldn't kill her. I would just leave her, she honestly deserves to be left... even a second time. I personally don't see killing survivors as a good idea, I mean it wasn't 100% her fault, mostly just her sanity. Now back to my raw opinion on her... she needs to be slapped or have some sense knocked into her but still not anything to do with death which wouldn't do anything...

  • Yeah I would leave her,
I know she did kill other survivers but hopefully she realises what she has done

  • I would like to do to Lily what Bigby did to Dum

  • Finally someone wrote that, thank you.

  • you guys choose to be friendly and talk to her ? i kill that b**** that's for sure !

  • I want a be cold but accepting option, I wouldn't be friendly but I certainly wouldn't kill her or slap her or leave her either.

  • Yeah, I chose friendly because it was the closest to accepting. I'm starting to think she really did think Carley was a traitor, as much as I like Carley, I have to admit she wasn't helping by being overly rude to Lilly. So, I think over time, if she was sorry, I could forgive her.

My initial reaction would have been to kill her, so I chose that, but in the long run I think killing her would be a bad move. She seems like a strong survivor, we could have needed her. Oh well

  • Killing someone who's innocent and someone who's guilty of major crimes are two totally different concepts. The death penalty is a bad thing in real life, but when there's no prisons anymore choices are limited.

Since i chose Carley on my first play through may be more biased against her for that reason. She's more worthy of mercy in the Doug version of events. I'd still leave her though, since i feel like in an apocalypse scenario you need to be able to trust everybody around you and i don't think i ever could again with Lilly. I'd view her as a threat if she returned.

  • Well given that Lilly still ends up shooting even if Carley's already dead, her being "rude" (i personally feel her last words were pretty accurate) didn't seem to have much effect.

Lilly believed what she wanted to believe IMO. By that point there was little hope of reasoning with her.

  • The poll seems extremely biased in his options.

Anyway, I'm sure the OP is happy that the 'be nice to her and not a vindictive fuck who thinks they are the law and punishment' option is winning.

    I certainly am.

  • I'd slap her. Anything more than that is bad writing: seriously, how would an 11 year old kill someone twice her age, much less kill her without hearing if she earned any redemption AND in front of people who don't even know her.

Most people choose " Be friendly and talk to her ". Jesus are you fucking kidding me?

Lilly shot Carley out of sorrow and crazyness, there was no reason at all to keep her in the group. She was obviously dangerous. And even though she didn't want to kill Doug, that doesn't make it any less horrible. I did choose to leave that bitch behind. (And i think killing her is also an legit option, to make sure that she doesn't hurt the group ever again.)

Anyway, I don't know that I necessarily agree with any of the options on the poll, but it's crazy to think that she could just get away with what she did.

  • I won't excuse what Lilly did, it's fucked up, but Lilly haters act like she's the only character in the game that's killed someone because they were scared and suspicious. Jesus. Try to remember what Kenny did to her dad, or what Nick just did to Matthew on the bridge. Or better you, remember that you PLAY as a convicted murderer who killed a guy BEFORE the apocalypse.

    Perspective, man.

  • edited April 2014

The situations really aren't comparable in Kenny and Nick's case. Kenny killed Larry in an effort to save people. Nick did the same thing, though his actions were a little misguided. Him not having a clue as to who Matthew was didn't really help either. In Lilly's case, she straight up murdered someone because she was pissed off and decided to elect herself judge, jury, and executioner. She was a dictator to the group for the entirety of the time that she was with them, but murdering a group member in cold blood is where she completely crossed the line.

Lee's case doesn't seem as bad to me just because of the fact that he had some very good redeeming qualities, where as Lilly really didn't have any (very few, at most).

  • For some reason, I thought that this choice was supposed to be right after she shot Carley/Doug, not if she showed up again in Season 2.

I certainly wouldn't be friendly, but I'd give her a chance to prove she's changed. I'm not going to straight up murder her, because that's a horrible option, especially after 2 years.

  • Telltale screwed Lilly over. I didn't have trouble sympathizing with her and sided with her most of the time, but she wasn't given enough sympathetic moments. It made the game unbalanced--same thing with Doug and Carley, we were naturally biased to Carley because of her gun. We're naturally biased to Kenny because he was really friendly when we first met him, whereas Lilly was belligerent, and Kenny's got funny quips and a family and Lilly's got an asshole dad and not too many funny lines.

I like Lilly and sided with her a lot but it felt like Telltale wanted players to hate her. I guess I subconsciously fought against that.

  • I don't think it's fair to leave Lily behind, even if you didn't like her initially and because she killed Carley or Doug. To be honest, I'm not particularly fond of Lily myself, but she has been given a hard time (if you were an ass to her :P) the whole way through the time she spent in the game. She did however show that she cared for Clementine by giving her bobbles to tie her hair up with (trivial I know but in an apocalypse, it must have been greatly appreciated) anyway, back to the reasons.

Even though Lily did kill Carley or Doug, Kenny and (depending on decisions) Lee did kill Larry. Which, without sounding cynical, does even it out. I know Larry was an ass, but it was still Lily's father, which would most definitely hurt a lot if he was killed before her eyes. Lily is certainly right if you leave her, you have left her with nothing, and that's horrible. Leaving her without food, water, her father, anything. So I definitely get where you're coming from if you left her, but think about it, she was a very valuable asset to the group and did keep the others safe for a long time. And with the whole evening it out statement I made, I don't think it is just or right, but it is fair. A member of Lily's family was killed, but only a member of the group who was close to Lee died. Just think how upset Lily must have been when her father's head got crushed by a salt lick. It had to have been horrible. But anyway, that's my opinion. I'd love to hear what you guys think maybe?

  • edited April 2014

You're right, it is deliciously ironic indeed that Kenny fans dislike that Lilly is vindictive and are actually vindictive about her in response.

And I think that she could justifiably be punished (although it happened 16 months ago), I just don't think it can be justifiable to kill her in return.

Plus, I support her as much as I support Kenny. I think they are more similar people than most pewople care to think about.

Personalyl I can't wait until they are both dead for certain, just so this pointless encircling discussion between fans of each can stop.

They both have great qualities, they both have awful qualities, let's just leave it at that.

Sometimes I do worry about people. Like I can see why Clem should not trust her, or even punish her in some other way, but a murder for a murder just does not seem like being the better person, which is what, as a rule, it is best to strive for.

As a note, Kenny's efforts were also misguided, albeit less so.

However, saying she killed someone 'because she was pissed off' is oversimplifying. I think most of us would have extreme emotional issues if your only surviving family had their head crushed by someone who hates you.

Also, stating Lilly does not have redeeming qualities is completely objective and thus not a convincing argument/. Personally I could list about the same number for Lilly and Kenny, which is why i like the characters the same amount.

EDIT: Note as below: Lilly was supposed to get her redemption in the comics, in which she's pretty cool.

Lee and Kenny were the ones who got redemption after the murders. (I don't know if I would call finishing Larry off before he could turn a murder though)

Lee died protecting a little girl that he loved. Kenny disappeared after risking his life to save Christa from a shit ton of walkers in a old building (Which he successfully did) or tried to save a kid that indirectly killed his family 3 days ago.

  • Thank you. Yeah, she... wasn't just "pissed off". She was overwhelmed and paranoid and frightened. She'd lost her dad and she was trying her damnedest to still hold on to something and live up to the expectations of leadership that I feel like had been set for her when she was very young.

With this game it's important to try and strip a character of their role and analyze the emotions behind what's going on. Just like with Ben, it's easy to get caught up in him being "the load" that kept fucking up and ignore the emotions and experiences that have been building up in him.

Maybe I should stop expecting people to be as introspective as I am when it comes to video games.

That's not what i said, i said i voted for leaving her behind. And yes, i think killing her is an legit option, to make sure that Lilly never hurts anyone again. She obviously lost it and we can't trust her anymore. It's not about revenge, it's about peoples safety.

I wouldn't kill Lilly, i just understand why some people might want to do that. It makes alot more sense than just beeing friendly to her and talk to her, after all the horrible things that have happened.
