Do people here hate Becca?

edited April 2014 in The Walking Dead

I've seen a lot of comments where people have said they HATED Becca from 400 days. Why is this?

    Ignore post.

  • Because she's pretty much an anti-Clementine in a sense. You protect her as you did when you were Lee protecting Clem. But Becca is more dependant and even a bit rude. I don't hate her, but she wasn't a character I liked too much either. Would be cool if she shows up in Season Two though, can imagine a rivalry between her and Clem.

  • Oh okay, now I see where the hate may be coming from. I noticed this too.

  • I don't hate her, though I admit she's an asshole. I like interesting characters though. I dislike characters like Alvin, he's so boring.

Well, unlike Sarah with her child-like innocence still in here, and Clem who used to have it but now it's gone but not completely, Becca has fallen victim to the symptoms of living in this post-apocalyptic world, being so vulnerable to it because of her young age. She realized the harshness of the world around her a bit too fast, and I guess that made her an asshole in the process.

Although many people dislike characters like this because "Oh no! They hurt my favorite character's feelings! THEY SUCK ASS.", I like these kind of characters because it's interesting to me of what they might bring to the table.

But do I hate her still?

She's hard to like in a way. With her rude behavior and tendency to throw caution in the air (i.e. jumpscaring Shel and escaping the Pitstop without telling anyone) she puts unneeded fear into others with careless antics. After dealing with Ben for so long, people have developed low tolerance to this kind of character.

  • I don't hate her. I do find her to be a bit of a brat though

  • Is that even a question.

  • No. I can't say I hate her or dislike her... I do find her a bit annoying at times.

Still, I'm thinking she might get along with Clem if they indeed meet, especially if you play her as sassy. It's also worth a mention Becca most likely changed during the time she spend in Carver's camp.

  • I don't hate her, hates a strong world like chicken.I don't like her because she acts like she's coped with the ZA,and she acts tough even though she ain't shit;never fought anyone, took a beating, killed zombies.Another thing is that she acts like she's cruel af for somebody her age.

I liked her. Mainly because she was interesting as she was obviously pretending to be so tough. She looks kind of scared if you Roberto, the thief, and if you tell her to kill Stef she makes an excuse not to.

  • I don't really care for her, but I think she has potential.

  • After seeing Clem in some playthroughs as sassy/badass/what have you in S2, she's really not that far off actually being Becca.

  • I don't hate, neither I remember to be annoyed by her. But I looking forward to Clem and Becca meet eventually, it'll be interesting I think

  • I don't hate Becca either but you have to admit that she's kind of b**** sometimes. I would like to meet her as Clementine in season 2 though. It could be really interesting in my opinion.

  • I don't like her, I don't hate her. It's half her attitude, and half the fact that she jump-scares Shel (and the player) out of nowhere. xD
My plan is to give her a chance as Clem, but I know she's on thin ice with a lot of people who hate her guts.

  • I don't hate her exactly, but her attitude gets on my nerves.

To be fair though, i've never really been a fan of kids in video games (and rl :P) Clementine being an exception.

  • I'm fine with children and I'm real forgiving and can understand her mistakes. But, I can also understand why people dislike her, too. You can't be all rebellious during a zombie apocalypse (like when she talked about sneaking out of the compound at night). She seemed to be kind of hypocritical; she first feels hatred about Stephanie's betrayal, and says killing her is the right thing to do and offers to do it, but when you tell her to and she finds some bullshit excuse. I don't really hold it against her, but I don't exactly like her. She'd probably be one of those kids that gives me a headache

  • I love it when I see Tenth Doctor gifs on here.

  • I can see you points about Alvin being boring. But I think he might have some interesting stuff to him. Carver seems angry at Alvin for killing his friend George. I want to know what's the story behind it.

She does have her moments sure, but in the end I didn't find myself hating her all that much. Her eagerness to throw Stephanie under the bus was a bit harsh but I think it's just a kid's way of seeing the world as black and white. I may get some heat for this but Clem in S1 did see the world in a very absolute way. Her unwillingness to steal from the station wagon (even though the food and supplies probably saved their lives) and her willingness to defend Ben (even when he put her and the group in danger) are just some examples of her distinctions of right and wrong.

  • She's kind of a bitch, but I don't hate her. She tries to appear tough but she's just a scared little girl (did I just quote Carley?). But, mostly, I think she's an interesting character, with a lot of room for character development.

I hate her behavior, I don't hate her. She acts like everything they're going through is an adventure, and she wants to murder the guy who stole from the pitstop (Roberto) without even discussing it. She also scares Shel like a fucking idiot and picks up on Bonnie in Tavia's story if you lied to Leland as her.

The thing is, she's just an ignorant little girl, and once a real threat will face her, she'll piss her pants and cry like a baby. Clem is the opposite of her, she was scared at the beginning, but now she's a hardened survivor who can kick Becca's ass any day.

  • Becca needs to understand that the end of the world isn't a fucking game.

  • I don't hate her, I just find her annoying. She's just a bratty kid trying to act cool and tough to cover up how scared and insecure she really is.

  • To be honest, I never found her hatable or annoying. She's basically a realistic representation of a person who's forced to toughen up in the face of a zombie apocalypse.

  • Exactly.

I'm secretly part of Third Echelon. We have been watching your communications, we have been watching your interactions. There is nothing that you can do without us knowing it. You go and fuck the next door neighbor and we'll be standing there with a camera, a mannequin arm, twelve pounds of peanuts and a condom. You go and wank off in the bathroom, we'll be standing there with a box of tissues. We are Third Echelon. And we are watching you.
