  • I might have Asperger's but I haven't been diagnosed. Or it could be my paranoid brain making me thing I have Asperger's.

I was diagnosed with high functioning autism when I was a kid (which was at one time classified as Asperger's, but is apparently back to being classified as high functioning autism again, as of 2012).

I've learned to hide it in my writing very well, but I still have trouble with social interactions in real life (which usually surprises people if they met me online first).

  • Yeah, I find it easier to socialize with people on this forum rather than face-to-face. It's why I don't have Skype :)

  • No, but my cousin has asperger's and my girlfriend has autism. Her autism is barely noticeable, she only told me a month ago that she had it, and I would have never known otherwise. My cousin has asperger's really badly, he has the social skills of a seven year old but he is 13, I used to go to the same school as him, so I was able to protect him some, (i was in eighth, he was in sixth) but now I am in high school, and he is still in middle school.

I supposedly have Asperger's, but I was never diagnosed with it. I seemingly show certain signs of it, but I'm not sure.

EDIT: People seem to be offended. Very well.

  • This is a bit random, but I read somewhhere that you were Ukrainian. Is that. True?

  • Umm, yes, but why is it relevant?

  • Oh sorry, it's not really relevant other than ancestry, but I felt like asking.

  • I don't think I'm either. I'm just depressed all the time and have a lot of self-hatred. I also tend to feel lonely at times, but I have a lot of friends. Idk, I'm just weird :c

  • My teacher believe I have autism cause I kinda move in a weird way but so far nope.

  • There were a kid with autism in my Boy Scout troop and their dad asked me to look out for him. It was tough getting them integrated with the rest of the guys, but they were really cool when they got used to us.

My parents actually thought I was autistic as a toddler because I couldn't stand certain sensations and hated being touched. Turns out, it was actually sensory overload. It took a shit load of 'desensitization therapy' by my parents and the local blind association to get past it...mostly.

Fun Fact: Touching chalk or unfired clay makes me physically ill. It's kinda strange.

  • I have autism spectrum disorder and yet I'm still smart and intelligent.

Hmm.. I have some Problems to interact with People on a 'Daily' Basis when it comes face-to-face. I'm horrible at Smalltalk then. But i don't think it goes as far as Autism. I guess many would say i have shown Signs in my Childhood and even Teen Days cause i was pretty calmly. But i just was too mature for my Age. Some People always missunderstood this and thought kind of 'special' of me. Uh.. I don't know. I'm a complex Dude x)

Sounds like clinical depression...or adolescence. One or the other.

  • Yep, I'm a smarty pants too. It's stupid that people think we're retarded because we're autistic/aspies.

Well, in a way, we're actually the same. Although I don't have autism, I'm socially awkward. And the same as you, people find it hard to believe that its me when I speak to them in real life :D

Yeah, I used to get called that all the time in junior high and high school. Having social awkwardness and other quirks (I have a tendency to use strange words in sentences, unless I focus to not do it, like using mond or cow as an exclamation) does not automatically mean that you have a low IQ.

  • I have been diagnosed with Asperger's since I was a child. I guess that's why I have a tendency to rant or cry sometimes. I've even been known to "stim" on occasion.

I have a tendency to rant on and on about non-important topics, which is good on an internet forum, but not so much in real life. ;) The only stimming behavior that I've noticed is that I have a tendency to pace quite often.

Man, all I need is a superpower and badass origin story, then I'm set.

  • Aw.... Look how mad you are. You call yourself Queen Lexi, and you have the arrogance and bitchiness of a queen. Just STFU and get a goddamn life, sister.
  • Aspies sounds a little offensive, but I have that.

  • I don't, or at least try not to, sound offensive with it. I personally refer to others as such. If people consider it a slur, then I'll stop with it. But I've never heard anyone consider it a slur or something like that till this thread.
