Are we getting too caught up in wondering who will live and who will die?
A recurring theme in this forum since the release of HOUSE DIVIDED has been death; or rather, "who will die next". This is a strange, morbid subculture that's been nurtured from WALKING DEAD to GAME OF THRONES, where it's considered fashionable to debate who's next for the executioner's block. We can hope and pray our personal favourite characters will "make it", but their mortality (rather than their role in the story as a human being) always remains at the forefront of the conversation. I know the title "walking dead" is meant to apply to the living as much as the dead, but asking "who's going to die next?" all the time becomes repetitious in itself.
For the record, I've been guilty of doing the exact same thing myself, but maybe it's time we started enjoying the company of these characters while they're still with us, instead of guessing when and where they're going to be slaughtered. If every major ongoing series becomes like an overextended FRIDAY THE 13th movie, what's the fun in that?
Comments
There are a lot of topics - who will die next, though morbid, is not far fetched in this series.
It generally becomes "who will die? who do you want to die? which character do you want to shoot in the face?" around week 5 or 6 of waiting.
