Don't read too much into it, but this just increased the chances of a new MM sequel by 0.00000001% :D

Oh if only this meant they were gonna step away from star wars for a while but no, it's likely just because it's one of their earliest games, you know? they likely don't want companies like TellTale jumping onto the copyright to omg... please fans. because that would actually make adventure gamers happy wouldn't it? and we can't have that. Nooooo.

If Lucasarts release another Point and click adventure game that has nothing to do with freaking star wars, i'll eat my hat... seriously.

Heh, yeah. Of course, would you really trust the modern LucasArts to make a good sequel, anyway? Can't even trust them with Star Wars.

Indeed, screw updated graphics. Who needs photorealistic hamster exploding when you can just have the imagination... ahh... imagination (why is it I can hear Hugh Bliss every time I type that word... erk)

God I hope Lucasarts doesn't try to redo the classics. Any attempt to bring back the great adventure games of the 90s would most likely fail by not having Tim Schafer, Ron Gilbert, Steve Purcell and Dave Grossman (and all of Telltale).

why are hardcore fans always like this? The graphics couldn't matter less, and if they update them, that can only be a good thing.

Because they have cherished memories of playing the game as it was. New graphics wouldn't be the same experience, for better or for worse. Not to mention, when a company updates the graphics of a game they tend to be tempted to "improve" the gameplay, at which point you have a different game. Such as Sierra did with some of their updated Quest games.

Personally, I subscribe to the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" school of thought. Make a new Maniac Mansion with the license, fine, but I feel there's little to be gained from retreading the same path.
