Story of Bloody Mary
This is the story my mother always used to tell me and my sisters about bloody Mary usually around halloween or at the campfire. I don't know if its the right authentic story but i always quite enjoyed it.
Once Upon a time there live a fair maiden, whose name was Mary. she was a kind, caring and compassionate person and always liked to help people. but she always dreamed of traveling to the New World (America) and finding a handsome husband to accompany her and bear children.
She lived with her mother in a small town near the Forest of Dean in England and everybody in the town loved her and knew her name. One cold winters day Mary was gathering firewood in the forest and happened upon an old woman who was standing in a large clearing right in the middle of the wood. Standing completely still... Mary who naturally wanted to help her walked up to her and asked her if she was lost. 'Thank You My dear' the old woman said with a single toothed smile. 'I am afraid I have lost my way and cannot get back to my Grandchildren'. Mary said that she would be happy to help and lead the old woman back to her cottage at the north east side of the forest. many miles from the town. As they approached the cottage, Mary saw children. first six, then eight then twenty children came into view playing with sticks and stones in the small garden. 'When they reached the old woman's door the old woman turned around sharply and said 'You are indeed a kind girl'. As she spoke the children stopped playing and froze...'I will now give you one wish for your kindness'. Mary's heart leaped and beaming closed her eyes and told the old woman about her wish to go to the new world with a handsome husband and bear children. The old woman's lips curled into a grin. 'Your wish is my command my dear'. And with that. She snapped her fingers and to Mary's horror all twenty of the children launched themselves at her beating her with their sticks and stones! With a scream she fell in agony stones hitting her in the head and sticks breaking against her legs. Fortunately a hunter hearing Mary's screams of pain rushed in upon his horse and the children scattered leaving the old woman standing over Mary a long dagger in hand. Without thinking the hunter loosed an arrow hitting the woman straight in the head. she fell backwards and landed with a sickening crunch on the bracken below. The hunter gently lifted mary and took her back to his cabin where he nursed her to health. Mary fell in love with the young hunter and they were soon married and set sail for the New world. Mary unfortunately ruptured her pelvis and was unable to bear children. upon learning that the old woman had made only two thirds of her dream possible she began becoming violent and hateful to children and that hatred turned to jealousy seeing them so happy with their mothers. Then one day Mary vanished...and more disturbingly all the children in the village were gone too...no one had seen Mary or the children leave.
To this day some say she comes to the children that call her, and does exactly what the children did to her... if not worse, but one thing was always certain after children call her...and that is...they are never seen again...
Hope you enjoyed it guys one of my favourite spooky campfire tales to tell :D
