What kind of music do you like?

What genres/artists do you like?

I personally like metal of all kinds, Southern rock (think Lynyrd Skynyrd and Allman Brothers), classic rap, blues, classic rock and some classical music.

My favorites are probably soul and classical, but I listen to almost all kinds of music. c:
  • Classical, Pop, Hip-Hop, Latin, Kompa
  • Metal. All kinds.

Favourite, probably melodic death metal. Kalmah ftw.
  • Despite my age, a lot of music from the 70-80's, rock mostly(Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, etc.). That doesn't mean I don't listen to anything new, though.

I also saw you mentioned The Allman Brothers, one of the few American bands who managed to keep up with the British bands. And I absolutely love their live album, "At Fillmore East". This, and "Made In Japan" by Deep Purple are my favorite live albums.

I listen to nearly all kinds of music! Except for most rap, dubstep, country, the usual genres that most people hate or think are overrated.

Recently, I have been listening to some amazing songs like always, thanks to my dad for introducing me to some of these songs. I'll list a few of them here, really underrated stuff.

'Martha My Dear' by the Beatles, 'My Sweet Lord' and 'If Not For You' by George Harrison!

Hmm, all of a sudden I feel like listening to Men at Work now! I think 'Who Can It Be Now' shall be a good song to listen to.
  • Hip-hop and Rap. Eminem and Dr.Dre FTW!

'Still D.R.E.' will always be a classic, along with 'Gin and Juice' by Snoop Dogg! In my opinion.

  • You know it's all about Regulate by Warren G and Nate Dogg.

  • Right now I'm into 90s hip hop.
  • Don't hate, I think this was the first time I ever listened to that song, and I shall declare. Not bad... not bad at all!

  • It's my favorite. Nate Dogg is magical.

  • Random info of the day:

My middle school nickname was Nate-Dogg, but I spelled it Nate-Dawg.

It's my favorite. Nate Dogg is magical.

  • I love me some cool jazz and classical. Ska is pretty good this time of year too.

Be that as it may, Hip Hop is still my favorite genre. I'm pretty picky about what I listen to, but OutKast, Wu-Tang Clan, Kendrick Lamar, and A Tribe Called Quest are some of my favorites. I'm not a fan of crunk or the douchebag mafioso rap that took hold in the late nineties and never quite went away. For me, great flow and lyricism is way more important than catchy hooks or verses about how many 'ho's' you got 'on your dick.'
  • But I got 30 hoes right now... :(

In all seriousness, I agree with you though. Flow and lyrics are important, but I like catchy hooks, especially if combined with the flow and shit.

  • Hell yeah! Illmatic is one of the best hip hop albums of all times. Great instrumental samples, and rhymes that are eloquent and brutally honest. N.Y State of Mind is probably my second favorite song after Bombs Over Baghdad by OutKast.

  • I mainly listen to instrumental music, but I do like some vocal once in a while too. Main genres I listen to are trance, techno (not the high-pitched annoying ones), dance, house, and drum and bass. I also love piano & strings music...I think that fits in the Classical genre, correct me if I'm wrong.
  • No denying that good hooks can take a rap to the next level, but these days, most record labels are obsessed with them. Hooks are what sells, not heart, not rhymes, not good sampling. Just hooks hooks hooks, because that's what gets songs on the radio. Everything else is kinda just filling the gaps.

    Of course there are exceptions.

  • Hell yeah! It's been 25 years and somehow that guy still manages to stay relevant.

  • I love me some Classical, especially Chopin and the other great pianists. Chopin and low-key acid jazz are the only things that I listen to while studying or doing assignments.

A man after my own heart :P yep melodic death metal would probably be my favourite genre as well, anything swedish :)

Unfortunately i'm not familiar with Kalmah, I don't mind Children of Bodom, Dark Tranquility, some In Flames is all right. Five finger death punch although there not really melodic death metal, I need to broaden my horizons when it comes to metal bands.

Metal. All kinds. Favourite, probably melodic death metal. Kalmah ftw.

  • My favourite genre would be melodic death metal, my favourite band is probably Tool even though there not even close to melodic death metal.
  • A bit of everything. New Wave, Nu Metal, Punk Rock. My favourite band is Devo.

MDM but no Kalmah? You ought to fix that there man. ;)

In Flames is pretty good though, or was anyway, even if I haven't followed them for a while.

if i could show you guys my ipod i would but i have WAY too much music
    so...
    STORYTIME!
When i was younger around 11 or 13 i use to listen to classic rock and metal only like metallica, slayer, megadeth, anthrax and pantera but my guitar teacher taught me to take all music in and not limit yourself to just one genre of music so i started listening to folk music like Bright Eyes and City and Colour but i still liked metal of course but i started get into more "progressive death metal/deathcore bands like morbid angel, the faceless, between the buried and me, Black Dahlia and tony danza tapdance extravaganza. as i got older around 16 to 18 i got really into my local music scene and started to listening to bands like Vanna, Therefore I Am and A Loss For Words and other bands like the devil wears prada, chiodos and silverstein. And then near the end of high school My friend wanted to show me "real" hardcore and none of the sceney crap i was listening to and showed me bands like Have Heart, Verse, Bane, Trapped Under Ice and Strife.

but after a while all of that started getting boring and i wanted something different so i started to listening to more chill stuff like Tori y moi, washed out, James Blake, Adventures, and The World is a beautiful place and I am no longer afraid to die.

to keep it short i like everything.
  • I like Tool, but Goddamn I get tired of the stoner fan base. It's awful to listen to a bunch of idiots talking about how Tool awoke their 'Third Eye' and shit.

  • Well, you live up to your Viking traditions: raiding, ravaging and rocking! :)

  • Which reminds me, Viking Metal/Folk Metal is my jam too. :S

  • I wouldn't know, I haven't smoked pot in 10 years lol, I do know that stoners love their music but I love it while completely sober.

  • I like video game music, is that weird? All I really listen to is Dan Bull. I do have a few random gangster rap tracks on my rhapsody playlist though.
  • Witch pop, dream pop, experimental, electronic, and indie rock. I like almost everything, save for blues and oldies, but those genres are my top favorites.
I'm a fan of classical too, but I don't listen to it nearly as often. Tchaikovsky, Jean-Philippe Rameau, Chopin, and Handel are my favorite composers.

My top favorite bands/groups: Phoenix, Arctic Monkeys, Austra, Bombay Bicycle Club, Boards of Canada, Múm
My top individual artists: iamamiwhoami, Grouper, Lykke Li, Grimes, Françoise Hardy

I dont really have a favorite gender but i guess its rock

    my favorite bands are :
    Imagine Dragons
    Linkin Park
    Coldplay
i also like 80's music maybe from playing so much Vice City.
  • 70's and 80's rock. I like all kinds of music though.
  • I love Dubstep, some electro, techno and well, most electronic music except House. House is too slow for my liking. I've also been listening to a lot of metal-ish type of music recently (It's the type with all the blood curdling screams and brutal guitar sounds). Also, metalstep. I may occasionally listen to standard shit like music that plays on the radio and what not.

    Billy Joel. Legendary!
I really like a lot of older songs. I won't forget Marty McFly singing Johnny B Goode.

  • I like music by Ffdp, volbeat, avenged sevenfold, halestorm, etc. That kind of stuff

  • I'm into electronic stuff mostly (not dance, but more like lounge/ambient/downtempo/experimental), also rock and pop.

  • Mark Kozelek.

  • Coldplay, yeah! Great band. One of my favourites.
