In season 1 I was 100% honest with Clem all the time, I told her that her parents were dead and that we probably wouldn't find them, In times of dangerous events when she asked if we would be okay I always told her that i didn't know, and so on. did anyone else decide to be honest with her?

  • I couldn't lie to her. Even before 103, I followed Chuck's line of thinking with survivors.

I never lied to her - I was honest about what Lee was doing when he was taking Duck out into the woods, never really left her in the dark about things, sugarcoated the truth too much (usually, it was just Lee telling her the truth and then motivating her to not feel bad about it.)...but, I never flat out told her that her parents are dead. I didn't get her hopes up too much or assure her they're probably fine, but I couldn't bring myself to just drop that bombshell on her.
  • I'm brutally honest when it comes to adults, but telling an 8/9 year old girl that her parents are dead? I couldn't do that. I can't remember everything I told her, but I didn't straight up lie to her either. I told her half-truths.
  • Well I didn't tell her that her parents were dead... because I mean technically we didn't really know even though they were probably dead, I wanted to make sure she stayed hopeful. Although, I never straight out lied, I just was kind of avoiding telling her that her parents were dead. I had a very strong feeling that they were dead but then again I told Clem I was going to help her look for her parents just so that she would know what happened to them, she deserves to know that much.
  • I tried to be gently honest. When she asked about Duck being taken into the woods, Lee told her that he as "taking care of him" which backfired in a spectacularly depressing way. He never told her outright that her parents were dead, but tried to keep her from getting her hopes up. As for his past, he was pretty upfront about it.
  • I was honest nearly all the time, but lied about her parents potentially still being alive. I just couldn't tell her seemed way to harsh.

I only lied about her parents to make her feel better. I didn't want her to feel more pain than she was going through. For everything else I was honest and I didn't make her feel she couldn't know. I tried also to not swear in her presence as well, though it didn't do any good did it? ;)

I was not very honest and didn't tell her things that would worry her and things she did not need to know. For an example I did not tell her that i was a killer, and told her that I believed things would get back to normal one day, also encouraged her not to lose hope about her parents.
  • I wasn't honest, I was optimistic, because telling someone that you think their parents are dead is kind of fucked up. That's just me.
  • I guess I'm more honest while playing Clem than I was with Lee. I think it's slight irony but it probably make sense as adult-life-hardened Lee would go for half-truths or even lie more often than still-quite-innocent kid Clem.
  • At the end of episode 4, I told her her parents were most likely dead, but before that point, I couldn't bring myself to dash her hopes.
  • It might made her stronger my cousin grew up without her parents and she is so tough and doesn't weep a tear
  • I was honest with her pretty much all the time. I felt that it would have been wrong to keep things from her. I wanted her to grow up with the knowledge that not being honest can have bad consequences.
  • Yeah, I was honest with her.

I think she actually appreciates it, since these game prompts always show up when you're honest with her.

    "Clementine understands what you did"

    "Clementine appreciates your honesty"

    And so, and so.

I couldn't tell clem about her parents. X_X
  • I was honest but when she asked about her parents I didn't flat out say they were dead. I didn't want to hurt her feelings. but I didn't say they were alive either.
