My review on Episode 3: In Harm's Way

Well, this was one fucked up episode. Well done, Pierre Shorette.

This was yet another great episode from Telltale and I was completely invested in every scene. And yes, like I said, this is dark as shit. Really gave Starved For Help a run for its money.

I like some of the new characters you got to see. Mike was kind of a dick in the beginning, but he grew to be a really cool and likeable character. Jane's just awesome. This mystery element to this tough, independent character really made me look forward to learning more about her in the next episode.

Probably the character that stood the most to me had to be Kenny. He was acting like a bit of a jackass trying to tell everyone to not give up and it was a bit hard for me to decide whether or not I can still trust him since he didn't tell me what happened to Luke. Then I realized how much I loved this man's determination to stand up for himself and fight back and I just thought, "Clementine needs to learn to never give up and I have no reason to not trust Kenny."

Then I got to see the 400 Days characters, which I thought was really cool. I managed to have all of them come with Tavia so I got to see all of them. It's weird though. I didn't give two shits about Bonnie in 400 Days. To me, she was the least interesting character out everyone else. Now in this episode, I actually like her a lot. I like this relationship she's built with Clementine. It's good too, cause I was pissed when she guided Carver to the lodge but she really redeemed herself in this episode.

If I had to pick out what I really didn't like, it would have to be whoever did Reggie's voice. I liked Reggie. I thought was a good guy, very optimistic, and a good sense of humour. It sucks that Carver killed him. But that voice just didn't work with me. Every time he talked, I always felt like I was listening to someone behind a microphone instead of listening to an actual character and it can be really distracting. If you saw past that, that's good. I couldn't.

Overall, this episode was everything that I expected it to be: Great writing, great character development (especially for Bonnie and Kenny), and again, really dark and gritty. Again, the only downside for me was Reggie's voice actor but if it's the only complaint that I have about this episode, then it shows how great this was.

I'd say it deserves a 9/10.
