Did you make Clementine watch?

edited May 2014 in The Walking Dead
I didn't make her watch Kenny kill Carver. because frankly, I wouldn't want to watch that kind of thing in real life. I may have made her watch if Carver killed someone close to her, but he really hadn't done that much to directly hurt Clem or someone she was close to...

  • well i had shit to do, and it isn't like i hadn't brought about his death and all he holds dear already, or that i hadn't seen all of that stuff before (hell, i had shot lee in the head). it like carver said, you got to kill the weak to keep their incompetence from bringing ruin on everyone else. he was getting killed, i helped bring that unto him, and had i had all the time in the world, i would have watched to ensure nothing got messed up (though i felt a clean death would have been better, but why not let kenny have his revenge).
  • I only made her watch because I wanted to watch
  • She watched because Clem needed to watch. She needed to know first hand up close and personal how dark her world really is, and that if she's gonna protect or help anyone she has to make sure it doesn't end up like that.

I hope in Ep4 they have the other characters talking about how Clem watched and maybe Clem's personality will change a bit for having done so.

Really I think her watching Carver's death is probably as important as her being witness to Lee's death and will make a stronger more fleshed out individual
  • nope nope nope, I don't want her seeing that shit let alone willingly.
  • I wanted to see that jerk getting killed. HE KILLED ALVIN!
  • Only thing missing is the option.

    Clem: "Kenny, stop, stop stop..."

***Kenny stops for a sec & looks in Clem's eyes.

    Clem: "My turn."

  • I only watched to see if there was still and option to stop Kenny... I think clementine does need to be made into a stronger leader but I just don't believe watching someone getting there face beaten off will have that affect. No need to stoop to the psychopaths level.
  • I watched because she needs to see it. Clementine is probably the strongest person out of the entire group. She's essentially the leader, even though it doesn't seem like it to the others. She's still a kid, but she needs to realize the brutality of the world. This is the world she is growing up in, best get used to it now. It'll be a struggle to maintain her humanity while surviving, but that's up to us--the player--to shape her into the character we want to see.
  • He also killed Walter and Reggie. Plus he also took Kenny eye

  • I did out of curiosity. I wanted to see if Kenny would REALLY kill him and not just hit him once and leave it to fate for him to come back like the Governor. But I kind of regret it. I didn't think about the fact that making myself watch meant making Clementine watch as well, but it does show a darker side of Clem that kinda' made me have doubts about staying.
  • I wanted Clem to watch because, well, *I* wanted to watch, but most importantly, I needed to make sure that it actually happened. Things that happen offscreen don't tend to actually happen in these games (Kenny would be the first to tell you that). I couldn't shake the suspicion that if she didn't watch, I'd wind up seeing that son of a bitch again later, and THAT is something I am NOT inflicting on this character given the option not to.

Although I did want a "My turn" button.
  • You make a good point, but when is the brutality too much for Clem? If she does become too hardened she becomes almost like a carver, cold and not a care for another as long as they work. I also see what you mean, not exposing her to things like that could make her soft, like Sara(LOL). This issue is what makes it a great game :)

  • When i played the game, i didn't have Clem watch because she is a child.
  • I enjoyed watching every little bit of Kenny's and Carver's "face off"

By the way, if your Clem didn't make this face while it happened, you've been playing the game wrong.

(What? Can't even post a Youtube link and have it be a link instead of a video?)

  • Oh how is that great Slicer? Because exposing a child to violence is a good thing right.

  • This question is phrased oddly. When we are playing the game, we ARE Clementine, at least in the moments when we get to control her and make her decisions. I didn't MAKE her do anything. But yes, she chose to watch.
  • I had Clem watch.. and take notes!
  • No I didn't have her watch. I played that bit again just to see what happened when you did watch but in real life I wouldn't' want to watch it even as an adult.
  • I watched 'cause I wanted to see Carver get what was coming to him.
  • Yes I made her watch.
  • No, I didn`t. I think it`s sick. Clementine shouldn`t watch something like this.

Yes, i let her watch because unfortunately she has to be strong now and watch these scenes to learn how the world works now ...

    This is my choice ;)

    P.S.: LOVE WALKING DEAD! <3

Clementine enjoyed watching Carver death, nothing unusual...

I didn't make her watch, seeing shit like that really fucks with your head, especially the mind of an adolescent. I believe that you have to be strong to walk away from that kind of shit, while the cowardly person watches a dying man gets his face bashed in
  • She's seen enough in my case so no, i left with Sarita.
  • Finally finished my silent treatment and I was bit shocked at the result for this part...
    Oo

  • I had Clem watch, but TBH I was just expecting Kenny to hit him once or twice and move on, or for Clem to have the option to get Kenny to stop after it had gone that far. (Though I suppose I should have expected it. Kenny has issues.) Still, it's a side of Kenny that Clem needed to see, so I don't regret it.

Having to shoot Lee in the face caused more pain than watching some evil piece of crap get his face bashed in. My Clem watched; it was the same as killing a walker to be honest.
  • Playthrough 1 (Badass Clem): "I'm going to watch, because I want you to see the look in your eyes when you realized you fucked up/"

Playthrough 2 (Good-natured Clem): "I don't want to... If Kenny wants to kill Carver, that's HIS thing. I'm only in it to survive."

Playthrough 3 (Tryhard Clem): "I'm going to watch, only because I want you all to stop fucking underestimating me."

I had her watch. Part so both me and Clem could see Carver pay for everything, but also because it felt like: this is the world now, and Clem can fucking handle it more than anybody knows.
  • yeah I made her watch. and I don't regret it whatsoever.
  • I left. I felt like that was showing that I was better than Carver and not granting him a last laugh.
  • at first i didnt but i imediatly regreted it and went back and made her watch cause this wont scar her,she lives in the zombie Apocalypse people what hasnt she seen
  • Holy SHIT!!!!

Left... would be a digrace to my Lee since i Told her killing is bad no matter what.
  • I didn't make her watch. I wanted Clem to show Carver that she wasn't like him. She may be a leader in the future, and she may have to make hard decisions down the road, but she's still holding onto whatever humanity she can. Carver had abandoned his. Making her leave was a small act of defiance in my eyes.
  • I decided not to have Clem watch, and I was immediately glad when I made the choice after hearing Carver saying something about how I should sit there and "watch the show" like it would teach Clem a lesson or something. I can understand wanting revenge and all that jazz, but I didn't want to risk my Clem turning out to be anything like Carver. Plus it was another way of giving Carver a big FU by not giving him one of his last wishes. I'm totally gonna look up Kenny beating the sheet outta him though.
