Why wasn't he mentioned?

Matthew, I mean Walter is the only member of Kenny's group who learned about his death in episode 2. So why was it that when the whole argument about Luke came up in the truck, Kenny or Sarita didn't say "Matthew is out there too! He can help."? It could be argued that during the unseen time between the ending of episode 2, and the beginning of episode 3, Nick may have told them (or if Nick died, Clementine could have). But if someone did, I kind of expected when Carlos was like "Like you helped Walter!?!" to Kenny, Kenny to say "Like Nick here helped Matthew!?!". I wasn't mad about it, I was just wondering.

I was just thinking of making a thread about this, haha wow. Kenny nor Sarita doesn't know Matthew is dead, but yet neither of them ever mention him or bring up the possibility of him saving the group. They don't know Nick killed him either.

    I think it's a plot hole.
  • The flaw of multiple writers. Some things like this are going to fall through the cracks.
  • I agree, it probably is.

  • I made a thread about this same problem but with Nick. I guess the writers just simply forgot about that.

Again, its plot holes from the new writer being previously inexperienced with the series.

I noticed this as well. Kenny and Sarita NEVER learn of the other guys death. Infact, the other members of the group, rebecca, carlos, sarah, etc, never learn that Matthew was the bridge guy, and it was known openly that Walter's boyfriend was out there, but nobody seemed to care.
Either Kenny and Sarita simply assume he died when he never arrived, or that he ditched the group, or just a plot hole, who knows.

I still feel its a plothole. Kenny and Sarita talked Matt up as a close friend, so it seems rather odd they wouldn't be worried.
  • Didn't Season 1 have multiple writers as well? I know Gary Whitta wrote Episode 4, and Episode 2 was written by Mark Darin, yet there were no noticeable plot holes like there are in Season 2.

I think the reason for it is just the writer for In Harm's Way himself, Pierre Shorette. Either way, it's disappointing that there were so many oversights in episode 3.

  • Exactly. Nick being super close with Luke, and if luke dies in EP 2, Luke will never mention him at all. Them knowing each other for 20 years and having a brother like bond, it would seem Luke would simply cease to function. I know I would.

  • You mean how Carlos the Doctor couldn't tell a dog bite from a lurker bite.

  • Yep, I didn't dislike the episode, but there were some oversights.
