What is your oppinion of Molly?

edited May 2014 in The Walking Dead
In my opinion, for the most part, Molly was a bitch.
She lied to the group about Crawford, she ran off with the battery knowing full well the group would be screwed if she didn't return.

But the thing that really made me fed up with her, was her comment after Kenny tried to attack Ben, after learning Ben was responsible for the death of his family: "Nice group you have here."
That comment showed that she did not give a damn about any of them, nor what they had been through, and was purely interested in looking out for herself.
So in reality, she was just like Crawford, and had become the very thing she claimed to hate.

Comments

  • She wasn't like Crawford. She did help us and she didn't just go around murdering people. Not to mention she might have thought that if she told us that she was once a member of Crawford we wouldn't have trusted her.

    Right, what a bitch.
How dare she not tell complete strangers about her horrible, traumatic past in which she lost her sister. How dare she run off with the battery, which was a very good move on her part since she (rightly) knew Kenny would want to leave her behind otherwise. How dare she get snippy with Kenny despite the fact that he tried to shoot her, unjustly accused her of fucking with his group, and had been just as if not more rude towards her.

And only a true Crawfordite would've saved the lives of multiple strangers several times for no reward, and willingly given up her spot on the boat for the sake of others' survival, right?

I normally try to avoid being this abrasive, but I'm just seriously annoyed with how ignorant your comment is. No hard feelings though, I'm sure you're an awesome person; I'm more ticked off with your interpretation of Molly than with you personally :)
  • There are guys out there eating people and smacking around little girls, but no, MOLLY'S the bitch for not trusting a group of strangers after a really traumatizing experience that involved sexual abuse and the death of her little sister.
  • Exactly. We have to deal with cautious people instead of murderers. Molly could seriously hurt someone with her nontrustingness.

I will admit, she has some very decent qualities about her.
And I'll admit, I didn't feel quite as hard towards her, even though I comment suggested otherwise.

But I will admit, that that comment: " Nice group you have here,' was very rude, and showed a great lack of sympathy for what my group went for, after I showed her understanding and sympathy when she told me her story.
I showed her kindness and understanding, and she made a callous comment like that, that really made me put out.

That's why got disgusted with her.
And I do believe I have made some fair points here.

However I know my comment was harsh, harsher than I had intended it to be.
And I realize I have offended you, as well as others, and I apologize.

  • Nah, I like Molly. She was a nice gal.

Her only fault was being cautious, is all.

Now JANE seems like an evil twin of Molly.
  • For my opinion, Molly is someone that is brave and smart. She loved her diabetic sister so much, she was willing to have sex with a doctor to get her the meds she needed to keep her alive. Even though she prefers to be a lone wolf, she did go out of her way to save Clementine and Lee (twice). All things considered, if Molly had to fill in for being Clementine's guardian, (like how Christa did) I'd think she would protect her no matter what.

True. I'm sure she'd protect Clementine with her life.

Jane, on the other hand... She seems like the type who'd abandon Clem if she becomes a burden.

  • I miss Molly :(
  • No problem, like I said I was bothered by the comment itself more than anything else. From your other comments I've seen on the forum, I can tell you're a reasonable person.

And I can understand why her comment to Kenny could piss someone off. It was insensitive and she wasn't helping the situation. I just don't think that one remark makes her a bitch.

  • Jane is basically Molly without the compassion and parkour.

Molly is the BEST character in S1! Alongside with Lee and Clem and Carley. She doesn't trust people and it's not a bad thing, But she can show true compassion if you get her to trust you.
  • She was not that like-able, I agree, but she was not the worst person you could come across. I wouldn't mind seeing her again.

Granted one thoughtless comment does not make Molly a bitch.
And I thank you for your compliment on my being reasonable.
    It's greatly appreciated.

Someone like Michelle's little sister form 400 days, is a completely different story.
She would've gladly seen her friend at the gas station murdered.
And at the campfire with Vince, Wyatt, Russel and Bonnie, she still continued behaving like an asshole.
She showed no concern for the group in episode 3, remember her callous remark when Clementine passed them by?
She didn't give a flying fuck as to what they had been through.
Even though her sister is indeed young, she is still not a nice person.

    Michelle was different.
Unlike her sister, she did care about the group, and tried to encourage her sister to show more compassion towards them.

    Same thing with Bonnie.
Even though she was temporarily misguided by Carver's charisma, she stepped up and helped the group when it counted.
Thus not only showing herself to be a smart and reasonable young woman, but also a selfless one.
Her concern from Clementine, Kenny, and the others, is actually quite profound.
