A way to make the S2 characters more likeable in ep 4 & 5
This is obviously just my opinion, but i seriously think the problem with why so many of us dont feel as attached to the current characters is cos they arent very close with clem, except for kenny.
Think about it, the characters that were the most liked in season 1 were pretty much carley, kenny(except those who had him be a dick sometimes cos you sided with lily), christa and omid, mark..What they've all got in common is that they all respected Lee and were close to him(except if you were a douchebag-Lee obviously), which made it easier to like them, at least imo. Molly also started trusting Lee the most which made us like her too.
This definitely doesnt mean we cant like asshole-characters, but all im saying is that in other to get more close with the cabin crew and the others who survived, we need to in ep 4 have them shown that they care about clem and appreciate everything shes done. For gods sake, she risked her life when she went to steal those walkie-talkies and turn on the PA system, yet most of the adults didnt even seem that worried about her, they kinda just said ''we know ur a kid but youre the only one who can do this now go, goodbye''. Even kenny just rushed her to go up, without seeming that worried!
SO IN SHORT, we need to have the ability to talk to the adults(or have them come to us) and talk about how they appreciated what clem did, maybe even say how sorry they were that she had to do all that dangerous shit/ that they kinda forced her to do it. Just more dialogue options to show that the adults respect and care about clem, but also that they now will protect her more than ever. Cos so far no one except kenny has really cared about clems safety or well-being(remember how nobody gave a shit when troy hit clem when she tried to help kenny who got beat up by carver?).
So those are just my 2 cents, im sure there are other ways to also make the characters more likeable(character development, have them shown being emotional, talk about their past etc etc), but for me its mostly important to show that they care about us and wont be sending clem alone to do all this dangerous shit anymore. at least in the preview it looks like clem and jane were together searching for sarah, it wouldve been too much if the adults just sent clem alone..again

Bonne did. She crouched down to check that Clem was okay.
Plus, she gave Clem that kickass jacket.
But it was different with the other cabin group people, and I think that's why people don't have really strong reactions to them. For example in ep1 Rebecca and Carlos seem to have it out for Clem, but then in ep2 they suddenly trust her completely. This change was unexplained and nothing happened to justify it so it made me unsure of how to feel about them one way or the other.
I still just hope in ep 4 the other characters give more attention to clem and help her out whenever the player must go do something, it makes me miss lee even harder when nobody of these new characters except bonnie see her as a kid who still needs guidance and protection.
Dunno how much you'd count that as protection but I figured it had some bearing.
I did not particularly like Carlos back in *All That Remains*, or Rebecca, for that matter, but I was looking forward to whatever came next, because I like the human drama and group dynamics of TWD... I *was* looking forward to it, it does not really happen.
also, theres a dialogue option when youre talking to him that goes; clem; ''youre right, [Luke] would never leave you guys behind'' Nick; ''us guys, you mean''. I thought that was very sweet of him
Best. Line. Evar.
EDIT: Well, not EVAR, but it was really good for reasons too long and boring for me to post here. ;)
He comes off like a jerk but he's really ol' softie, honestly.
like when the group sent clem to turn on the PA system, rebecca said ''make sure to bring alvin''. As if what clem was doing wasnt dangerous enough, how the hell was she gonna bring back a beat up guy?
oh, and carlos did seem to get more accepting towards the idea of clem and sarah being friends. i just hoped youd have the chance to talk to him too, especially after that scene where carver forces him to hit sarah and the player has the option to try and interrupt, the ''carlos will remember that'' pops up. it just sounded like carlos wouldve come back later on and talk about how he appreciates that she tried to help and maybe forgive her for how hard he had been towards her. I think if i had had the chance to talk to carlos properly, id have felt sadder by his death.
fleshing out the characters is definitely important right now in order for us to really get more attached to the characters. More talking with the characters and drama between them should do the trick, also in the future have at least 1 adult come with clem whenever she has to go somewhere. clem obviously has to do a lot of shit cos shes the playable character, but that doesnt mean the others shouldnt be involved, it would make them look more useful and make it easier for us to connect to them.
Troy hits Clementine, neither Sarita, Kenny, or anyone else but BONNIE cared! Why? It'd be great if the people who you treated well and cared for, came to your aid or screamed at Troy or something! Anything! No one even asked if she were okay!
Plus they keep sending her on 007 missions, it makes sense because I doubt an adult would be able to sneak in so effeciently and even be supported by that flimsy rope, but still no one other than Sarita seemed to care.
Likewise in s2 I have a much bigger attachment to characters who Clem has a chance to interact with /affect (Nick leaving the shed with you if you convince him to, Sarah showing you the gun if you're her friend). When characters don't have that kind of interactivity I don't care as much about them. I feel so much more invested when we interact with characters, share thoughts/experiences, and they react to our choices/dialogue.
Luke is the last person in the world to question Clem's compentence, we saved his ass on that bridge. He was questioning why Clem was being put on the dangerous mission, with Clem being a kid.
I like Bonnie too, much more than I did during 400 Days. I hope she survives the Season.
Hubs goddamnit.
