"The group is counting on us..."

Ok so... this kind of follows up to the "Picking berries is hard work?" thread... but why the fuck did Reggie say "The group is counting on us." when we were just picking fucking berries? I mean, Carver must really like his berries because he killed Reggie for doing it incorrectly, but even still, I just don't get it. Am I just missing something?

  • By saying that he wants to motivate them to work harder.. Reggie was just scared shitless of getting killed or kicked out so he wanted everything to be perfect.
  • It's because he's really awkward and doesn't know what to say

That's the kind of thing that an adult would say to a kid when they are doing some work..
  • Well picking up berries is just one of the many works you have to do to keep the place well suplied, so ''the group is counting on us'' because it's part of the process. Now Carver killing Reggie might have happened because:

1- Carver is crazy and got mad at Reggie for interupting the ''process''.

2- Carver was going to kill Reggie all along and was just waiting for a reason to do it.

    3- Carver loves Berries.

They probably use the berries for ingredients in food or to eat them, they also need to maintain the plants by taking off the dead leafs to keep them alive as i would think it would be hard to grow enough fruit to feed lots of people in a apocalypse. I think Caver wanted any excuse possible to get rid of Reggie so he used the berries as his reason to do it.
