Why didn't Carver use his pistol?

Why didn't Carver use the pistol in his pocket after he was left alone with Rebecca, Kenny and Clem? Didn't he have one? Not that I wanted him to screw up things further, but I was just wondering about that.

    I think I remember Rebecca taking it, correct me if I'm wrong.

    Maybe an oversight or he just knew he was beaten.

    When the group was there, he couldn't have pulled it out without getting shot. With Rebecca, Kenny, and possibly Clem, he couldn't have pulled it out fast enough to shoot Kenny before Kenny would hit him.

    If he did use it, wouldn't he die by someone from the group, or die of blood-loss from the gun shots? Remember, he can get shot in the face. I think he knew there would be no solution and just accepted that he's dead.

    He knows he's gonna die, thats why he wanted Clem to stay and watch.
