Not knowing who the person Alvin killed is not a minor detail. If it was self defense, then I would trust Alvin. If it wasn't then I don't, but I would have no way of knowing if it was or not without knowing who George was.
Not even comparable.. pretty sure I don't even need to explain why.
And its not like I'm saying you shouldn't ever have the ability to… more investigate. I'm simply saying there are going to be some minor details that you will inevitably never get more insight on.
Feeling something for them is a subjective view. The fact remains that we have had as much time to get to know the cabin group as we had to get to know a handful of well liked characters from season one. If you're not feeling anything towards the cabin group characters by this point, it probably just stems from you personally not liking them. That is obviously a whole different discussion.
I'm not telling you that the characters in season 2 were "designed to leave little to no impression on the player". Never said that at all. It is a possibility that they aren't really meant to connect with you on as much of a personal level as some of the other characters in the series though. Part of the problem is the fact that Clem is still a newcomer to the group, where as the other members have been with each other for a long time. They're more connected to one another than they are to Clem.
The issue that you seem to be having here is relating to the characters. Because as far as character development goes, we have a pretty good idea on who these characters are by now. Just because you don't care for the characters does not mean that the characters have not been developed. If anything, you should be complaining about Telltale not creating enough likeable characters (from your own point of view).
I personally do like a handful of the cabin group members. Nick doesn't really seem to be a fan favorite, but he seems the most real to me. He has his heart in the right place (though he is maybe a little misguided), and is a funny guy. I would definitely care if he died. I thought Alvin was a pretty good character too. A LOT of people felt something with his death last episode. Another character that I really liked was Walt, even though he was around only for a short period of time.
If that's the case, why is Telltale making us spend 3 episodes with people who we're not even supposed to care about? I mean you're partiall… morey right, because we don't need to know every last detail and backstory about these characters. But we should still at least feel something for some of them. Which I don't, at least not in comparison to the characters from Season 1.
I guess my point is, if the characters in Season 2 were designed to leave little to no impression on the player, why am I even playing this game anymore? I want to feel for these characters, I really do. But I don't feel much for them.
And it's especially irritating in a game where emotional connection to the characters was so important in Season 1. But as of In Harm's Way, the only characters I'm truly emotionally connected to are the ones from Season 1: Clementine, Kenny, and Christa, wherever she is.
Let me put it like this: as painful as this is for me to say… [view original content]
Belan does have a point maybe that's all there is to it Alvin tried to escape killed george to escape whether or not you trust is based on y… moreou like I said earlier trust is a KEY element I season 2 you decide who you trust like Hershel said sometimes you gotta depend on the honesty of strangers
No one else in the group cared at all, not even Rebecca. That should tell you something. Plus, as I said before.. " Honestly though, considering the opinion is coming from Carver, that tells you all you need to know. Plus you have to remember how Alvin reacted to Nick shooting Matthew. If the guy didn't have a problem with murder he wouldn't have been upset with Nick."
Its not like you are totally left in the dark to speculate on who Alvin is as a person. If the only info we had on him was the fact that he had killed someone in the past, things would maybe be different. That wasn't the case though. There was plenty of evidence showing him to have good moral character. I mean.. who was the only adult out of the entire cabin group who actually helped you with the shed incident? Alvin. If Alvin was a bad guy he would not have bothered potentially facing Rebecca's wrath in order to help you with your dog bite. PLUS, he even throws a juicebox in as a bonus. On top of all of this, it is pretty safe to assume that Alvin killed George while escaping from Carver's compound. If Alvin had killed George prior to escape attempt, Carver would likely have just killed him.
This goes back to what the OP was saying about being spoonfed information.
