In TWD S2, why did they walk where Carver's group are firing?

In the final part of Season 2, Why did Clem and the others walk where Carver's group are firing? Shouldn't they have just observed for a while and looked where there's lesser activity(a safer zone where Carver's group are not focusing) and just sneak their way through the woods(and then act like zombies after), since the walkers are attracted more on the gunfires and loud speakers at that moment?

  • They started firing off camera on the side of Carver's camp. I'm guessing they got swarmed and decided the roof was the safest place. So they didn't walk where the group was firing, the group went to them.
  • They started shoting after the group started walking, not the other way around! They didn't know.
  • They were on the other side when they started to walk. Carver's goons started to fire on the groups side.
  • You know.... umm....... #YOLO
