I'm not too worried about this episode. To me. The preview always made it look like it was going to be more of a bridging gap episode (like … moreEpisode 2 was) I have a rather unpopular opinion... I liked Episode 2.
So if the episode is of that quality I'm not going to be annoyed at all. I had low expectations for Episode 2 (thanks to you guys actually) and I ended up really liking it. Will it be like that again? I sure hope so.

It also has to do with the fans. We always have our expectations set to stupidly high heights all the time. Like we WANT things to go this way and that way as well as have an episode be this particular length.
As a whole, when TWAU has all five episodes complete, I'm pretty sure people will love it. It's just the long wait for only and hour-two hour gameplay seems rather insulting to some players. But it's clear Telltale are aiming more now for it's actual storytelling and direction than the gameplay and the length.
Remember how long TWD S1s' Long Road Ahead was? I'm not one to complain about length at all (trust me, I love it actually) but that episode was about the length two full episodes from Season Two or TWAU would be now. I always thought they done that episode in particular much longer because they said to themselves they needed to do this or that before we got to Savannah.
Same with TWAU. But this time, it feels like the opposite. They have a good idea on how they should end it but this time they probably thought to themselves they don't know how they'll get around to doing another episode in-between.
And let's face it, all great TV shows even have episodes like that.
Plus, I was always amazed how much people disliked Episode 2. It even puzzled me (lack of action maybe? Or was the usual complain about length?) but I always cared more for the dialogue anyway (as have the developers).
So, until I play the episode, I'm not going to judge Telltale for "Half-assing" it when they simply needed to create more of a build-up for a final chapter. Which I'm pretty sure they have.
I'm still waiting for the Steam release but the comments i'm seeing about this episode are worrying me a little. Is it really as bad as people say it is?
I expected it to be shorter which is lame but "it's a filler episode"? That's... not good. I guess I'll find out.
I don't think it's that bad. I know, it's another build-up and filler episode, just like 2 was, but it had some really great scenes and I'm pretty excited for the last ep.
I liked it personally.
And as for as filling and pandering went, it was alright.
The characters were good, we know how much of a threat the Crooked Man is and a certain fight scene where you team up with someone else was really cool to. Anyone else think one of the TWD art design came over to help the Jersey Devil? No spoiler, he is scary looking.
Just my two cents anyways.
I really REALLY hope they don't do this to TWD and episode 5 of TWAU. Judging on this release TWD seems far better than TWAU now which is pretty sad. For TWAU to not become a "meh" game they better make episode 5 freaking amazing. :l
I have to say, I read a couple reviews that were 5/10. I didn't doubt it was too short, and I could see how short it was after playing it. But honestly, I enjoyed it even after seeing bad news/having a bad morning. Each conversation and dialogue was very good. Everything that happened: I wanted to see. It may have ended too soon, but there were new characters to meet, new information that we needed to learn. It was a good episode, definitely 8.5/10
Your comment gives me hope. I'm kind of surprised by the negative reaction this episode is getting...then again, the only major complaint I … moresaw was the length of the episode,75 minutes, right?
Still, episode 3 was around the same length and people loved it. I'm gonna play the episode with an open mind without watching any LP's while waiting, since I believe you'll look at the episode differently if you play it yourself, rather than watching it.
Disapointing :(
I give 6/10
I'm not even sure if I wanna buy it tommorow and play it myself ( I watched a YouTube walktrough, cou… moreldn't help myself) because it was so lame :(
I'm sure the reviewers n IGN are gonna be like: Mindblowing! Awesome! Piece of art! 10/10! 5/5!
Because, you know, they are pretty close to telltale with the playing dead series and shit.
8/10 for me.Just like TWD ep 3,this episode had more potential but it didn't have many interactions. The story in this episode was great and I really liked it(despite of what other people say),but there could have been more to it .It pretty much felt like a filter episode,so ep 5 might be just as awesome like ep 1 and 3.
I just finished the episode, and I find it a pretty solid episode overall, though I can understand the disappointment with Episode 4.
I liked the investigation in the butcher shop, the awareness and pressure of the new roles Snow White is trying to enforce and how it will affect everyone in Fabletown, I like how I can give money away I've been storing up to owe up for Crane's shortcomings, and I enjoyed the beatdown of the Jersey Devil.
What I didn't care for was the length and the anti-climatic ending. If Telltale had just squeezed in a good few more minutes at the end, the episode would feel a little more complete.
I hope that the finale will make up for this episode's shortcomings, The Wolf Among Us deserves a fitting end.
eh, I liked it. a lot. But it was short. Like SUPER FRIKEN SHORT. And im not the one to complain about an episode, so if I say its short, THAN ITS FRIKEN SHORT.
I don't know what everyones deal is I loved the episode, ya its not the best episode(actually think its my least favorite) but I still thought it was great.
Could have done so in a bit more of an interesting way, but whatever. Honestly episode 3 was good enough that this one was bound to pale in comparison.
Ya episode 4 was like an episode before the finale of a tv show, not very exciting and not a lot of action but its used to set up the finale and I think it did its job while still managing to keep me interested.
Eh, it did its job. It set up the finale.
Could have done so in a bit more of an interesting way, but whatever. Honestly episode 3 was good enough that this one was bound to pale in comparison.
I'd say it deserves at least a 9.5/10. Only because the ending felt a bit anti-climactic.
Seriously, play it. It took me between 80-90 minutes to finish it. I don't know how some people were able to do it in 75.
IGN gave it a 6 and for once I agree with ign. If anything this episode was just a build up to the finale which hopefully can finish off the story good with the limited time in an episode. Im a little worried they wont fit it all in.
I didn't think this was episode was bad, but I'm kind of pleased that reviewers are giving it a bad score, because telltale obviously isn't listening to the fans. I don't want TWD to suffer so I hope Telltale gets the message that an hour and 10 minutes isn't going to cut it.
Dropping down to 1h 15 really is getting silly with the length. It also seemed to exist to set up the finale rather than do all that many interesting things in its own right. Though it was interesting to find out more about how the Crooked Mans operation works and i enjoyed what was there.
7.5/10 for me. Not bad at all, just a little disappointing.
Here's my honest opinion. So far, it felt probably like the driest telltale game so far, even more than Episode 3 of TWD (which is a fantastic episode, don't get me wrong), in terms of gameplay. I started playing this yesterday before a concert so I got to the scene where it got the crooked man, which is where I honestly thought was the halfway point compared to the lengths of the other episodes. I wake up, I continue the game, only to make one decision and the episode is over? Really? I actually think this game took me an hour to play through with an extra 3 minutes when I continued just now, not even kidding. The decisions at the end too... are those really the most significant ones in the episode?
Yes, this sets up the finale, but actually why stop it there? Even though these episodes for both TWAU and TWD have been lacking hubs, stronger character development, and real gameplay, you have to admit Telltale was pretty consistent with these episodes. I actually feel like this episode was thrown together in a week with a few days to refine (and, in fact, I found my playthrough a little glitchy). How sloppy, right? I hope this is a wake-up call for them. I completely agree with the IGN review 110%.
I liked it a lot. It didn't strike me as filler at all. More like an opportunity to decide how you want your Bigby to proceed--a time for self-evaluation, both for Bigby and for you, as the player, to decide whether or not you like the way you've been playing the game so far.
To me, the dialogue options were all very good, and I felt as though there was always something there that I would have hoped would be there. Plus, I got to step things back a little with all of the supporting characters (including Snow) and just start playing my cards closer to the vest. Even I'm not 100% sure how Bigby is going to deal with the problem left hanging at the end of the episode, but I do know exactly how he wants things to go down now.
Comments
Except Jurassic Park. But I'd even argue it wasn't as bad as people say it was.

We should create public pressure so episode 5 is better.

ya
I finished it in EXACTLY 75 minutes.
It was really short, the shortest episode in any of TWD and TWAU.
It was good, but much didn't happen .
I don't know what everyones deal is I loved the episode, ya its not the best episode(actually think its my least favorite) but I still thought it was great.
Episode 1: 9.0
Episode 2: 8.0
Episode 3: 9.5
Episode 4: 7.5
I'd say it deserves at least a 9.5/10. Only because the ending felt a bit anti-climactic.

Double post.
Dang, IGN gave it a 6.0. I hope Telltale gets the message when one of the cons was "incredibly short"

I really enjoyed this episode. It felt like a better episode 2 (which I still liked despite the flaws). I would give it a lovely 9 out of 10.
It wasn't that bad but it was incredibly short
