Longest Level

What is the longest level in the history of games you have played?

Personally I think it is The Great Maze from Super Smash Bros. Brawl

    Any Zelda water level.

Any level is the longest level when you are called to dinner, need to go to work, or if the world is ending...

But I agree with 16-Bit, Zelda water levels are long (and usually boring).

I agree with the Zelda games, but I think I had the hardest time on a Link to the Past in the Desert stage... I only remember the parts that I was stuck at because it literally took me like a day to figure them out. The stupid key on that pillar and the boss. Also that water stage is hell, but I don't have horrible memories of it.

I thought Bowser's Castle in Mario 3 was the longest level ever, but it turned out I just sucked and as lost for half a day. Given that I thought the same thing in Mario 1 a few years before, for the same reason, I should have paid more attention.

Trilby: The Art of Theft. Trying to get through Mission 8 without being seen or tazing is insanely difficult.

Definetly "Surface Tention" from Half-Life 1.

Would Pokemon be considered one long level? If so, that definitely wins the prize. Hours and hours of gameplay - and that's just the beginning! Once you complete the story, you "Gotta catch'em all!".

I think the longest level I played was The Shivering Isles for The Elder Scrolls IV game. I mean I had to play "errand boy" to some wacked out demon god and wander through some long, maze like dungeons teaming with bloodthirsty creatures. I loved it!

none of those count, a level is something such as a stage or a dungeon. the longest level is probably one from a jrpg in one of the final dungeons where you fight multiple bosses. i reckon the shortest level is possibly runway in goldeneye though.

I would have to say the longest level I ever played was The Worst Game Ever flash game on the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie web site.

Mind you I never played it to COMPLETION but it more than qualifies. :)

Ever heard of the Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles on the Sega Genesis? I remember that the last level was long, and tough. The bosses I defeated were resurected, and I had to battle them, and Krang, in order to reach the Shredder.

I don't really know how to quantify "long", but both Latheon Gorge and Ymir Forest in Tales of Symphonia were unnecessarily drawn out. And yeah, the Great Maze in SSBB is huge compared to the other, relatively short levels in the Subspace Emissary.

In terms of levels I was stuck on for a long time, I guess the arcade game in Donkey Kong 64 doesn't really count, though you do need it to beat Hideout Helm, but there's Meat Circus in Psychonauts. The first time I played the game, I could not get past rescuing Oly. The second time I didn't even attempt it. I got through it on my third playthrough a year after the first, though. And I didn't have as much trouble with the rising water part as most people did.

Don't mention the Meat Circus, please. I HATED that place (although I do enjoy fighting Mr. Oleander and the combined Oleauto). Saving Little Oly took forever and let's not get started on the rising water (how ironic his full name is Razputin Aquato)
