They shouldn't replace it, but they shouldn't be so goddamn adamant about silence always being a valid option. Sometimes it's not.
Certain situations demand a response. Like when Clem's asking you whether or not she should shoot you. You don't just leave her hanging. If you want her to make her own choice, you tell her that. You don't just go silent and make her figure it out on her own. It doesn't feel like a natural thing to do.
I also like the push towards specifying the silence with an action. [Sad Eyes], [Glare], [Hug], etc. They make the silent option a little less ambiguous. I'm one of those weird fuckers that pick the silent option pretty often but there have times when I do so only to find out that it was and angry silent response as opposed to an understanding silent response.

I am absolutely dead at Luke's expression!
I suspect that Walter is enjoying this hip-thrusting spectacle...
If she leaves after that, it actually fits, in a weird way.

Matthew: Are you guys assholes?
Clementine: I'm not an asshole..
Luke: Are you calling me an asshole?
Clementine: Looks at Luke [HUG]
I think you're confusing pole dancing with dry humping...
