Well, as the title says, any thoughts about "A vampire story"?

http://www.vampyrestory-game.com/

Have anyone played the full game? The demo? Geman vs. English version? Voice acting? Dialoge?

Any thoughts at all?

(I tried to search, but didnt't find any thread's about tis topic, but if there are, please delete this thread)

I've never heard of it. It looks like a good game, but I don't have any money.

There's plenty of talk about this game over at adventuregamers.com and gameboomers.com :)

    @Jostein
There also do exist several threads about AVS here.

o The demo has a nice mood but isn't put together well.
o I liked the game a lot, very old skool like and they even implemented the inventory idea which they once thought out for The Dig.
o The english voice acting is very good (i love Mona's voice) whilst the german version sucks as usual. Strangely there only exist a handful of adventures with good german voice acting. Full Throttle for instance was a revelation!
o Technically the engine has it's issues (not optimized, demanding) and at least from a user's experience is behind TTG's technology. If i remember it correctly they for instance use Panda3D, nothing i would call a first choice for a commercial product, at least at the time i had a look at it - propably an older version.

Anyway the game is fun and if you've enjoyed the older LucasArts games you most likely will enjoy this one as well. I hope that it sells well and that it doesn't take too long till part two arrives. A good game running on a not so good technology but better this way than the other way around.

I somehow like it when games have some edges where you can rub yourself, it gives them some personality, thinking of The Dig. :O)

I feel quite silly, I found the post about the demo further down on the side here, but when I searched the forum for "vampire" that post didn't appear. Anyway I've tried the demo myself, and were quite dissapointed. I've always had a love for the old LA adventure games, and especially MI3. So this game had all everything it takes to become a good adventuregame. But still I feel that it failed miserably. Especially because of the voiceacting and dialoges. And that was why I wondered if it was better in german.

I feel that the thin squeeky voice of Mona really didn't fit her character, and that some of the dialoge could have been funny if there was no voice at all, but that they somehow prononced the sentences different than what seemed natural. And that all the voiceacting were really unnatural.

But still, there were many aspects that I did enjoy, like the inventory, and the interface.

I understand that you have the game Taumel? What part in the game was the demo from? The start or a little bit into the game?

Yep i bought it. When i started the demo i found the voice annoying too but after a few minutes i got used to it and then i really liked it. The demo is more from the end of the game.

That's because the game is spelled VampYre and not VampIre.

That doesn't matter now, but if you ever need to search again, you'll know. :)

Wonderful game. Voice acting is very good, very fluent, doesn't seem artificial at all to me. The game is quite short, but considering the amount of detail, it's not that surprising. Besides the game engine, the production values are superb. I have to admit that I prefer this kind of polish over the simplicity of the episodic games. It's a shame the game is so short though, we didn't realize it was only chapters 1&2 until the end credits started rolling.

I would recommend this to any adventure gaming fan. The lack of budget and forced release are noticeable from a few bugs here and there, but the game is wonderful. I truly hope they are able to continue the story.

    Haha, that explains it...

Well you all convinced me. I'll buy the full game and try it out...
