A question about the DVD sets

I plan to get both S&M season 1 and 2 and would prefur the DVD sets so I have a nice little case to display and some bonus video clips. I was just wondering how it worked. I guess that you download the games from the DVDs when you get them but how would you do it otherwise? I assume if you order 1 episode or the season without the DVD you'd just get a "Press here to download" button. Also how do you play the games after you get them? Do you need to put the DVD in each time or does a Thumbnail go on your desktop that you can play anytime?

Sorry if this isn't the right place for this kind of question.

You install the games off the DVD to play but you still have to have the disc in the drive to play.

Most of our game sales are downloadable, where you buy the game from the site and then, yeah, get a "click here to download" button.

One great side effect of that, though, is that when you buy the DVD, you're also getting the download versions included, so the moment your purchase is complete, you can download the games and start playing, even before your DVD has arrived in the mail.

Ok thanks a lot. So just to make sure, when I buy it I download it off the site and then can play it instantly, and then when the DVDs arrive they contain a seperate version that works like a normal CD game that requires the disc. So other than the bonus videos and oother bonus goods the CDs don't really need to be used to play the game at all if you chose to play the downloaded version?

    Correct.

You don't need to watch the bonus videos / goodies to understand the game, if that's what you're asking. People who just get the download version will be able to play the games with no problem.

Thanks for answering and what I meant was that the CDs themselves arn't needed to play the games. As in, you could play all the games that you buy instanly without the discs at all and when they come you wouldn't need to put them in to play (unless you chose to download and play the games off them.) I didn't understand why you get 2 versions of the game but I think I understand it now. Also the way that Jake explained it, it sounded like you download it instanly and can play but then he said you need to use the DVDs each times, so I got a little mixed up.

Correct, the downloads can be played without having the disc at all. The downloaded version are unlocked using a serial number. Only the disc version requires having the disc in the drive to play it. It's two different forms of copy protection for the two different versions.
