The Human Population in The Walking Dead
I was thinking about the number of humans on the Earth in the Walking Dead, and then I realize: I have all the numbers! This is just simple statistics!
Let's see. There's roughly 7 billion people on this planet. Walkers outnumber humans about 5,000 to 1. That puts 0.02% of the entire world humanoid "population" as living humans.
What's 0.02% of 7 billion? Surprisingly, there should be 140 million people still living! Though the undead population comes to be 6.86 billion, that's still better than I would've imagined! How about that?

Hmm, with respect, I think your count is wrong. If we divide 7 billion (7000000000) by 5000, we get 1400000 (1.4 million).
Also works through a percentage - 1% of 7 billion is 70 million, so 0,1% is 7 million, while 0,01% is only 700000, which makes 1400000 equal to 0,02% of 7 billion.
Math is no fun. But i like that statics, It's a new beginning for the world to start fresh. The Noah Ark for science if you see it from my point of view.

Let me explain what happened here:
The OP is from a country that uses the Long scale system meaning a Billion is 1000000000000 (a million millions).
While you obviously use the Short scale system where a Billion is 1000000000 (a thousand millions).
So essentially both of you are right.
If so, then yes, we both are right (in our calculations, at least). But the short scale system is correct in this one, because we don't have 7 trillion people on Earth.

Where would they be though? We know that most of the American South (i.e. Redneckistan ;p)is screwed over, but what about the rest of the world? How many people would be left in China, India, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Latin America?
We also have to account for all of the people who dies during the apocalypse. Not all of them turned.
