I would agree, but I can't stay on a forum that is routinely making me angry, besides good users are getting banned left right and centre, I may as well leave before I get banned for a misunderstanding as well.
Same, and you will always be. Plus, you're the coolest 26 year old Australian security guard ever! Haha, I hope you decide to come back to say hello. :c
Dont qoute me on this, this speculation is based on pure memory, but I remember him saying he was going to the army or something like that and he would be gone for I think about 3 months or so..
Didn't he say he was coming back or is it just me? Man, he was one of the best users here, and he's gone with the others. It's just ridiculous and at the same time sad.

The bans are only temporary, as they are just a time out for people who have disobeyed the forum guidelines. We aren't banning people more than we used to, it's just that the banned badges are back (like they used to be on the old forum), so it's more visible to everyone who has been banned. Banned badges don't mean permanent bans. The people who are given temporary time outs are welcome to come back once their ban has expired, as long as they don't continue breaking the rules when they return.
Temporary, sure, but 2 weeks to a month still seems a bit harsh for first time offenses. And since other users aren't told how the banned member violated the forum guidelines and in some cases the banned member themselves aren't quite sure exactly why they were banned, it doesn't seem like a very effective way of keeping the forum under control. In the future, I would recommend shorter bans (perhaps 3-5 days) accompanied by a very clear explanation to the member concerning precisely what he or she did wrong. Then up the punishment if the behavior persists.

Most of the temporary bans are only between 5 and 7 days (and sometimes even less), and every ban is accompanied by a private message explaining why the ban was put into place. The longer bans are only for the users who have constantly ignored warning flags or direct warnings from moderators.

Bye Aus. I've been thinking of leaving too. It's kind of dead know. A ton of people were either banned or left and there is nothing for the people still around to really talk about.
We're not actually banning more people than we used to, and the bans are just temporary time-outs (usually a week or less) meant to warn users to not continue the behavior that got them banned. The only reason that it seems that more bans are being handed out is just that the forums show the banned badge now (like they used to on the old vBulletin forums), so it's more obvious to everyone who has been banned. As always, as long as you don't break any of the forum guidelines or violate Telltale's Terms of Use, you don't have to worry about getting banned.
I would agree, but I can't stay on a forum that is routinely making me angry, besides good users are getting banned left right and centre, I may as well leave before I get banned for a misunderstanding as well.
I'm feel like I should speak my mind about this even though I promised someone I won't. But I can't ignore it anymore.
But a temporary ban is not really a warning. Before there was one guy spamming with making new threads in TWD section and Blind gave him a warning in the form of a comment and not the form of a ban. Banning is just a way of saying you're not welcome anymore. There's a difference between a ban and a warning. Believe me, I know. I noticed people are starting feel less welcome here now and plenty are leaving because of it. Many are not sure what they should say now without getting banned. This is wrong.
I say this cuz I care about this place and I want people to be happy and feel welcome at home.
Maybe I'll get banned for this. I dunno. But at least I'll know that if I went down, I did things for the good of the forum.

The bans aren't handed out lightly. We only ban people after they continue breaking rules after already having posts flagged as offensive or trolling (which come with private messages warning the users what they have done wrong), or after a moderator comes into a topic and warned people multiple times to stop, and they don't.
We don't stifle conversation, and we certainly don't ban people for merely having a difference in opinion. As I said, as long as people don't break any of the forum guidelines or violate Telltale's Terms of Use, you don't have to worry about getting banned. The people who were banned did break those rules, but they are more than welcome to come back as long as they learn from their mistakes and don't do so again.

I know but people beginning to doubt this now. Take me for example. Look at all the chaos formed recently. You have to look at the overall behaviour the person has, not by one post that seemed offensive.
I once read a story about a king who ruled this kingdom. He followed to rules to the very core, and eventually people started to fear him. Eventually these rules he used caused it to crumble. Do you know why that is?
You see sometimes there are some rules made that were never meant to exist. All it does is create tension and stress. Sometimes rules aren't good enough. Sometimes you have to do the right thing for the people in order to make things better.
I'm just sharing wisdom from things I know. And I know at some point even you didn't agree with these rules. But you have no choice but to follow due to your role. But all I'm saying is sometimes rules are what destroys a good place. I believe we need some changes here or else I fear soon this place will collapse completely.

Before I was a moderator, I was insulted by a couple members of these forums. I bowed out of the conversation after I was insulted, as I didn't want to be a part of it, but they continued to attack me. Moderators warned them to stop, but they kept it up. They were longtime members of the forum who were friends to many people, but they screwed up and didn't heed warnings from the moderators, so they were temporarily banned. I don't hold any grudges against them, as they were having a hard day and I just got caught in the middle of it, plus they learned from their mistakes once the bans were up.
The rules are there to make sure that everyone enjoys the forums, and the moderators are just here to make sure that people treat other people right. We flag more comments than we issue bans, as no moderator likes banning people. But, if people keep breaking rules after being warned, sometimes a temporary ban is just a necessary measure (and it works, as it almost always stops the rule breaking, except in the rare cases where it's clear people are just here to insult or troll).

Would the bans cause as much discontent if regular users could see how long they lasted? Instead of just "Banned", say "Banned until July 13" or "Banned for another 2 days and 14 hours" or "Banned forever." Yes, I know even the old forums didn't do that, but given that we're also not supposed to discuss individual banning cases, it might be just enough information to calm some folks down.

I still make warnings in comments (as do the other moderators), since I said sometimes we go into threads to warn people to stop and they don't. Plus, we make warnings through flagging (which sends warnings through private messages). We never ban people who just make one mistake, as we always issue them multiple warnings of some form before we hand out temporary bans. Any ban, even a temporary one, is always a last resort.
Sorry to hear about that.
Hmm.... so the reason you no longer make warnings in comments anymore is because of this.
I'm gonna stand by of what I said before, but at the same time I understand. I usually look at two ends of the same coin.
I would like to discuss more about this about but I would be bringing up a banned member into it. May I have your permission to speak freely about it? I would only mention this person once. I'm a man of my word.

You're a cool dude, Aus, sorry to see you go.
Good luck with whatever the future holds.

Well, sorry to see you go man. You were one of the first people I actually interacted with here.
Maybe poke your head in when episode 4 comes out.
You don't have to leave but if you're leavening FOR sure then just remember you can always come back again.
Nobody's making you leave, and the mods aren't even that bad.
I'll be here... I'll be 'waiting' here... I'll be waiting...for you... so... if you come here... you'll find me. I promise.
I would agree, but I can't stay on a forum that is routinely making me angry, besides good users are getting banned left right and centre, I may as well leave before I get banned for a misunderstanding as well.
Yeah you were one of the first people on here I interacted with as well, take it easy Sven
See ya later Ana, you were always one of my favourite users

If you're right, he'll be back next month, seeing that he was gone on April.
See ya, old buddy.
I feel so sad. I'm gonna miss you!
Why the fuck are the mods banning everyone left and right? What is the reasoning behind it?
Next time, on The Walking Users.
See ya mate!
