Would I like TWAU if I liked TWD?
As I learned today that they are made by the same people, I only recently started playing TWD and burst through all of them in about a week.
I only started playing it because it received all those awards a while back and I figured it was about time, anyway I am itching for more and found out that this is made by them as well but wanted some opinions from people who have played both.
Also, I am not into the walking dead in any other way (as in I have not watched the show or read the comics) and I don't plan on reading the comics for this either, will that be a problem or not because I know TWD was focused on different characters so..

You will definitely like it. It has a unique setting and art style, among many other things.
It's a prequel to the comics so you don't have to read them, they do a very good job of explaining the universe. Anyway, this game is great!
Yes, I think you will like it. As @DragonButter said, the setting along with the art style is definitely unique. And don't let the whole fairy tale thing discourage you...it will be worth it.
The game is a prequel to the comics, set 20 years before the first issue. You won't need to read the comics in order to understand what's happening.
And considering the final episode is most likely coming out next week, I'd say it's a good time to play the game.
The game is very alike to TWD. It has a great plot, good characters and the protagonist is awesome. You should really give it a try. At first I was not interested in this game, but when I tried it I absolutely loved it and it's one of my favourite games now.
I was in your shoes a week ago. Now, I even like TWAU more than TWD. Not because TWD is bad or anything, It's a complete equal to the TWAU. However, TWD is about survival, TWAU is about a fictional universe. I have a thing or two about fictional universes.
Verdict: Go get TWAU.

If you enjoyed how they handled stylistic graphics in TWD, you'll enjoy TWAU. Atmosphere is getting SO good at TTG.
I'm enjoyed Telltale's Sam & Max, Monkey Island, Jurassic Park was a big let down (all titles I knew previously to its respective's games), but it was TWD (I didn't know the comics or watched the TV series) that made me fall in love with the company. Then came The Wolf Among Us, and now I'm a fanatic. TWAU is one of the most involving videogame stories ever! I think about Faith, the first victim in the game, every day (that's a bit of an exaggeration, but it's almost so) and I need to solve this case. Play it now! I'm not even playing TWD season 2, just bought the first episode and I'm glad that TWAU will conclude before TWD s2 e4, as then I'll take my time to play through the episodes hopefully before the season finale come out.
Haven't finished the first episode yet but so far it seems fantastic, really glad I decided to pick it up.
Got the season pass after what I played too, so hopefully I will be able to play episode 5 the same time as everyone else.
Don't worry, You'll be able to do so. I've played Episodes 2, 3 and 4 last night. But i have a habit of staying very, verrrrry long on my laptop. And I also have a habit of playing for a very, verrrrry long time.
