How much do you want telltale to concentrate on...

edited July 2014 in The Walking Dead

It's no secret that telltale is a small-ish company and that it bit off more than it could chew when it decided to release two games while working on two others. However, that is a mistake that is too late to undo, telltale can't suddenly decide to for example cancel work on borderlands, game of thrones and wolf among us just so walking dead S2 remaining episodes can be longer and released earlier.

With that note, I hope that on that note, we can all release that neither us, nor even telltale, can get everything we want. Which is why I think the best thing to do to put telltale in a better direction, or our desired direction. Is not to ask telltale to drop the other games, asking them to cover every aspect of the four games perfectly or even very well won't do much good in moving them either.

Rather, what we should do is tell them what to concentrate on, alright, here's a little formula I quickly cooked up, it's far from perfect, it's what I can think of right now. There is 30 concentration points, and on your post/reply to this topic, you should distribute the 30 points on...

Game Quality(Not visual quality, but how good/enjoyable the game is for how long it lasts, storyline, gameplay, dialogue options etc.)

Game Branching(How much the big choices matter and color the characters/situations)

Game Length(Could include hubs, puzzles or whatever. Or just more and more scenes. Or a combination of both)

Release Speed(How fast they release the game)

News(Screen shots,trailers,updates)

Easter Eggs(Not really easter eggs per-se, but the amount of small hard to find dialogue variations due to obscure choices or whatever)

Personally I'd like them to concentrate like this...

Game Quality: 12

Game Branching: 6

Game Length: 7

Release Speed: 2

News: 1

Easter Eggs: 2

Small dialogue variation hunts isn't really my thing, I never wanted to see screenshots or trailers and innacurate release date promises do little to annoy, and I can wait a lot if the game is more branched, longer, and most important of all, more enjoyable.

So.....yeah, post how want the concentration points to be distributed and anything extra you'd like to add or want either from telltale or how you want me to change this thing.(add/reduce points, add/take away catagories, or whatever else) I am sorry if I did the whole thing poorly, but I want us to appeal to telltale with something that isn't "Do everything right since you put yourselves in the multiple games situations"

  • I agree with you. I just think they should concentrate on TWDG and TWAU first, since they're almost done with both of them. Then finish the other games and go from there.

  • I think they should put 35% of there time into TWAU, 35% into TWD, 20% into GoT, 10% into TFtB.

Ummm, no guys, I don't mean "how much should they concentrate on which games?"(might make a different thread for that), I mean "because of having multiple games and little resources, how much should they concentrate on which aspects of the games?"

    Post something like uhhh......

    Game Quality: 5

    Game Branching: 5

    Game Length: 5

    Release Speed: 5

    News: 5

    Easter Eggs: 5

Ya know, something like that, but distribute the numbers however you want(where as they add up to 30 )

Well as far as I am concerned, you distributed your 30 points almost perfectly, I would only perform a slight alteration, since waiting is going to be long anyway they could also make it longer by working on it for a few more weeks.

    Game Quality: 12

    Game Branching: 7

    Game Length: 8

    Release Speed: 1

    News: 1

    Easter Eggs: 1

I have to admit having played Fallout 3, your formula seems almost identical in the way it works to the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system, which had 7 different attributes among which you had to distribute 40 points, only difference beign in Fallout 3 you couldn't raise anything above 10 or have anything below 1.

  • I couldn't give less of a single fuck about easter eggs. In fact, I think they should avoid including those in games as serious as TWD, but I don't mind subtle references. Every one of these stats is important, but chief among them is quality and branching. I can deal with long waiting times, but they better damn well be worth it. Providing news is fairly important, but far from priority. It's nice to have episodes that near or exceed 2 hours, but the quality of an episode, even at the expense of length, is key.
