Bigby's Mercy and Bigby's Vengeance

Bigby's Mercy Book of Fables entry is most likely what happened to Faith. When she says: "You're not as bad as everyone thinks you are".

Bigby's Vengeance Book of Fables entry may refer to that The Crooked Man is Bigby's father.

Just some wild guesses.

Comments

  • Bigby's father is Mr. North. Or "North Wind."

  • I think "Bigby's Mercy" (not tearing off Gren's arm) refers to Bigby sparing Grendel like he spared Snow in the past.

And "Bigby's Vengeance" (tearing off the arm) refers to Bigby being heartbroken and seeking revenge, and he unleashed that anger on Grendel.

  • Agreed. His "Mercy" is calming down and acting with reason, and his "vengeance" is taking his incredibly pent-up frustrations from his childhood and his struggles to be civilized out on people just because he can.

  • You get Bigby's Mercy if you spare Gren and then it mentions that Bigby once spared someone's life too (Snow)
You get Bigby's Vengeance if you tear off Gren's arm and it says that after seeing his mother heartbroken after his father's (The North Wind) departure he tries to seek revenge.

Apologizes about Bigby's vengeance, I didn't read the comics. But i get it that you get Bigby's mercy if you spare Gren and as you said it mentions that he had saved someone before, Maybe Snow or Faith. That's my point.

  • Yes, But I got illuminated that maybe Bigby's mercy refer to the story of Faith and Bigby. In Ep1, He says: "Have i met you before?" and before she leaves she says, "You're not as bad as everyone thinks you are". And then i guessed that it might refer to that. Just a theory that I wanted to discuss with you guys.

  • It is Snow. The exact same story is told in the comics.

  • Yes, I firstly thought it was Snow, But then it illuminated another "Faith is still alive" theory. 95% unlikely to be true. Still, Just wanted to know what do you guys think.

  • Likely he just uses the ol' huff and puff, which is an ability inherited from his dad.

  • He saved lots of people before when he sort of inadvertently smuggled refugees from the fable homelands into our world. Bigby's Mercy specifically refers to when he freed Snow from the Adversary's forces. That's how they met, and it's the main reason she was so insistent on making him part of Fabletown years later, even though it almost tore the community apart.

  • I see. thanks for the explanation.

  • I thought he was helping refugees flee the Homelands on purpose? Because that's how badly he wanted to screw over the Adversary?

He was mostly just harassing the Adversary's forces, and a lot of them were looking for a portal that he had stumbled on by stalking a witch. Then he hunted the search parties the Adversary sent for it, and made a practice of leading their prisoners to it whenever he encountered them. You can certainly say that he rescued the captives to taunt the Adversary, but I always got the impression that that arrangement was more or less accidental.
