How come Telltale can't release all versions of an episode on the same day?

I never understood why Xbox and IOS players always have to wait an extra day(or days for IOS) to come while PS3 players(in America) and Pc players get to play it earlier.

  • I don't know for certain, so take my word with a grain of salt, but I always figured it had something to do with a contract with Sony or something. As releasing it on PC means Steam and the TTG Store, they could always release it on their own terms. Praise Gaben.

  • It relates to when stores are updated. Steam and PSN update on Tuesday (well, Steam actually updates daily but major games tend to be released on Tuesday). Xbox updates on Wednesday. It's the same reason Europe tends to get game releases later in the week than the US. They have a different date for when their stores release content.

Basically: Blame Microsoft for not updating on Tuesday.

  • My bad don't take it the wrong way but Microsoft Does update on Tuesdays you can tell because Map Packs and Updates are released on Tuesdays I don't think its only Microsoft's Fault I think TTG is in on it too because you can get on the Xbox and Receive the update for the Epsiode and when you go to the Download sections the game says its ready to download but when you click it wont allow you to proceed so the episode is updated to the Xbox Servers on Tuesday but its not released to the public until Wednesday.

Different store fronts go by different schedules and regulations that Telltale has to abide by, I believe. Generally speaking, Telltale tries to work around this by ensuring that Episodes get released in the same time frame.

Basically it's because different storefronts update on different days. PSN North America updates on Tuesdays, PSN Europe updates on Wednesdays, and the Microsoft store updates Wednesdays and Fridays - so those are the days that we're always locked into for those platforms. We have much more direct control over Steam and the Telltale online store and can update those on any day, so usually line that up with the first console launch (sometimes that's Xbox, sometimes it's PlayStation).

I believe iOS updates late Wednesday evening Telltale time, but we say "Thursday" for that because it usually happens so late in the day that most timezones are already on Thursday by then. ;)

If we could have all platforms release on the same day, I think we would definitely do that! The way things stand right now, we just try and get it as close as possible.

  • Puzzle not to sound ignorant but Xbox does indeed update on Tuesday and the episode is updated to their servers on Tuesdays but not available to download till Wednesday. Why is that?
