A little thing I noticed with Faith and Mary..

edited July 2014 in The Wolf Among Us

In Episode 1, as Faith walks away from you, she flashes you a two-fingered hand sign, which more-or-less is a way of waving goodbye, in a more casual way. Normally, this would just be a normal thing, a casual farewell. But it's zoomed in, almost emphasized, in Episode 1.

In Episode 3, Bloody Mary does the same thing to Bigby and Snow, with a fairly 'cheeky' look. Again, this is zoomed in on. This two-fingered wave is emphasized.

Both Faith and Mary say the same thing, "See you around."

This could mean a lot, or it might mean nothing. Was the Faith Bigby met in the first episode Mary in a glamour? Does this hand gesture mean something more? It could be a total coincidence and it may sound silly to think too deeply on, but it's just the fact that both scenes seem to stay focused on the girls as they do the gesture. In Episode 1, the camera could've just stayed on Bigby as he watched her walk away. But it zooms back to her hand, and only for her hand gesture. It strikes me as something more than coincidence.

  • Omg, so im not the only one who noticed that..

  • Interesting find. Could have something to do with the plot, Only a couple of hours to find out.

  • Good find, but unfortunately this exact topic has been explored before in a thread made quite some time ago.

  • I noticed, but its last reply was months ago, before Episode 4 even.

  • Yeah, people have been talking about it. Maybe the Crooked Man's had his eye on Bigby for a while, and Bloody Mary was acting as a spy for him. If that's the case, she'd be taunting Bigby in this scene; mimicking his love interest's actions shortly before her murder.

  • I had a kinda-inane theory that Faith in Episode 1, at least the version Bigby met, was Mary in disguise. The Woodsman having sex with Lily was involved, and he likely didn't pay, and Faith was sent. However, she was actually Mary, and would've killed him if he didn't. Or, perhaps, the death was framed.

  • Good theory but I don't think that Bloody Mary would let Woodsman beat her up lol

  • Well, I hadn't seen it, and maybe other people too. If it happened quite some time ago, I'm glad the OP brought it up again for those of us who missed it the first time around. It is a good find. I never even thought about that, but I knew what the OP meant as soon as I started reading. I can't believe I didn't put 2 and 2 together. I can't wait to find out if there's any significance to it.

  • The animators had to know that they were reusing that exact same gesture and the writers have to know that they were reusing the exact same line. I wouldn't be surprised at all to learn that there is a connection. I doubt it's a coincidence.

  • Bloody Mary is Faith that's why she went to Woody's apartment to find the Axe

I could pass Telltale for re-using an animation off as a coincidence, even a line of dialogue. But the fact they re-used both, with an obvious close-up shot, makes me think there's no doubt something's going on.
