I'd say it was better but not because of the episodes length. A lof of small things worked together that made Season 1 a great experience for me. It was something new, the plot was very interesting, characters well written, you had some ups and downs in the story, you actually felt the threat of the walkers (could die in many more ways!), had the opportunity to talk way more with other characters and get to know them. That sort of stuff. I don't play those kind of games with the stopwatch because a great albeit shorter episode may be far more enterteining than a dull long one. Time is relative, you know :P
but you STILL can't deny that season 1 of twd made you popular and was fantastic (was better and longer).
that STILL proves that the length was a goal.
