please don't change the subject, I don't want to have this thread locked because someone started talking about XBOX Avatars or something...

You can prevent runaway threads by actually giving people something to talk about. Not everyone knows what you know about The Conduit. For example, you can dig up screenshots, a synopsis, or a video and share those.

To contribute, I am pretty impressed with what that team has managed to squeeze out of Wii's hardware. It looks on par with a lot of XBOX 1 stuff.

Not to be mean, but It's not like telltale is making games like Crysis. :)

This looks like something I'll definitely purchase. It looks very similar to Metroid Prime 3, which I enjoyed immensely.

Here are a few screenshots for your enjoyment.

Just look at that resolution! And that leg that looks like it's coming out of that alien creature's mouth? It really isn't!

Yay! Guns that shoot... um... electricity... and not bullets. More like "nay".

The Library of Congress! The perfect place to wipe out an alien species!

I'm going to give this my best guess: it's a zombie Bionicle.

Don't be fooled by the sarcastic and witty photo captions. I'm very excited for this game to come out.

Wow, it does kinda resemble RE4. Hmm looks pretty sweet. . .

See, screens like this come out, and it makes me wonder why so many Wii developers are only making use of a fraction of the console's power. This is the best looking Wii game I've seen thus far.

That looks suspiciously like the zero-point energy field manipulator from HL2!

no SS of it firing, but it shoots electricity too when enimies are nearby (and hurls deadly sawblades when you're bored :D)

Don't worry, I can't take offense when I have no idea why you said that.

After a pretty poor 2008, next year is looking quite promising for wii owners:
    -The Conduit
    -Mad World
    -Little King's Story
    -House of the Dead: Overkill
    -Sin & Punishment 2
    -No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle
    -LIT
...all games I'm looking forward to.

I can't wait for the Customizable controls!

Shooters on Wii definitely all need this feature, because motion controls feel different for everyone!

I wasn't initially excited for this game, but as they release more stuff I am starting to become more and more interested in this game.

It is a definite wait and see, but I am thinking I may be buying this game when it comes out.

A console is like a bench press. You can have a 400 pound bench press, but if your potential allows you to bench 250 pounds, you don't use the bench entirely.

Metroid Prime told me long ago that even the Gamecube could match XboX 1. I never saw a XboX game that the cube couldn't do. You just have to find competent programmers like those of Retro studios. From what i have heard, the XboX was easier to make games for too...

As for remaining on topic, i was disapointed with WII in 2008... 2009 doesn't look that much better as far as i am concerned, but this Conduit game... It's technically impressive, but the market of FPS is very big. Lot's of choices on every system will surely make this a bargain bin game. I can't see myself spending 50$ on a Wii FPS... I have been spoiled by more recent FPS. Left 4 dead mainly.
  • edited January 2009
Well, I agree, $50 is a lot for a game, but that's the same price as any other shooter on any other system! So, what makes you think that just because it is for wii that they should charge less?

Well for starters, can you name a good exclusive fps on the wii? I can, it's Metroid Prime 3. Is it worth 50$? No, it's worth more than that, but heh, it's Metroid. The rest of FPS that are exclusive are garbadge IMO.

Now we have third party games that are multi-console. I was trying real hard to want to get one last year, but i didn't have any valid choices. Call of Duty World at War? It's done a million times better on other systems. It even lack the zombie side game. See, what i hate is not only are the graphiqs a lot weaker than on the competing systems, but they often lack stuff like online play or other features ...

Truth is, third party companies who are highly capable at producing games in this genre just won't make the effort for a Wii game.

Now this conduit game, it might be a game that i'd buy, but if i am to buy it, it has to be as good as FPS's i play on the computer or other systems. If it is, then good, i'll be glad to spend that 50$.

So my point is not that WII game's aren't worth 50$, but let's be honest, rare are the games on WII that are worth 50$. Especially FPS games. So far we have Metroid Prime 3, and that's it.:o

The longer I've had the Wii, the more I realize that it's VERY hard to find good third-party games, especially FPS games. I was excited about the potential of this title before, but then I played a few Wii FPS, and the controls are just really.....BAD. The customizable controls would help a lot, but it's mostly the Wiimote look function that bugs me. I might end up getting this game if I find a used copy sometime, but when I consider the amazing first person shooters I've been playing on the 360 and PC, the general nature of the Wii controls would just seem under-par. I am not turning anti-nintendo, but I just think they should try adding some classic controller options, or maybe keyboard and mouse support for games like this.

Wii MotionPlus will not be used with the game, although it was originally intended to be. However, the Wii Speak peripheral will be used. Which is freakin' sweet.

Link? The official game page on Sega's site fails to mention Wii MotionPlus, and the Wikipedia page actually goes into detail as to its planned use, then its dropping due to technical issues and a lack of reasons to actually use it.

With this in mind, I present to you: Links.

EDIT - Ooh, it's fun to run the mouse over the multiple links. *swoosh* *swoosh* *sswwoooosshh*

UPDATE - New trailer ("story trailer") that runs a lot like a movie trailer with video game footage. Here it is.

By the way, anyone who hasn't already seen the multiplayer trailer might want to check that out, too.
