.... and, oh yes, it's too short.

I got through episode five in under an hour. And the longest part was at the "trial," listening to all those Fables yammer and do the "angry mob" thing. There was some good stuff before and after, but the "trial" was just really, deeply Uninspired. The whole story ends with a whimper, not a bang, in the shortest episode yet. I think it may be the shortest ep. Telltale has put out among ALL its games.

I was kind of looking forward to Tales from the Borderlands, but... meh, I can wait until Steam puts it on sale. These Incredible Shrinking Episodes are not worth the full price.

  • TWD 105 was also short so...

I think a lot of people agree about the trial part. The length should have been longer since it was the last episode; which I could forgive if there was a season 2. Basically for the me the first half of the episode is all action and excitement and the second half is telling the other fables to shut up so Snow or Crooked Man can talk. I'm sure there are those that will disagree with me though.

  • I agree.

This last episode definitely does not have anything like the impact of TWD season 1's last episode, and not even close.

  • I was also a bit disappointed at the Crooked Man's weakness. Sure he was a cool villain, but for the most part, that was all the hype people were giving him. If all of his goons were so afraid of him, any one of them could have easily taken him by themselves.

  • Crooky's whole "I'm not the bad guy, I'm just a BUSINESSMAN" line, which seemed to go on and on, was just exactly the same thing I have heard, seen or read in a million TV episodes, pulp novels, what have you. The more I think about it the tired-er it gets.

If I had read this whole story in a couple of buck-ninety-nine comic books or a $10 graphic novel, I maybe wouldn't feel so cheated, but I paid $25 for this and in the end it was just... meh. Hackneyed. I hate to say it, but that's it. There's not much to differentiate it from your average episode of DRAGNET or PERRY MASON, it's just that all the characters are in fairy-tale drag.

  • I disagree.

I think this was a great ending for TWAU. It was short, yes, but it tied up a lot of loose ends but left enough room for a sequel. I'm one of the fans who honestly does not care for the shorter episode times because to me, they keep the one thing that truly matters: quality. To me, Cry Wolf was a really great episode. It was different from the TWDG s1 finale in that it wasn't meant to make people sad, it went off with a question that will haunt players like a good crime/mystery story would. I don't know what else could have been packed into this episode to make it long enough for some people's taste: pretty much most of the characters were touched upon (even Prince Lawrence, lol. The Woodsman had his send-off in the last episode. And if they have a season 2, there will be time to focus on the rest.) and the trial was pretty long, but it was interesting to see how the character's swayed from one side to the other.

But that's just me. I actually just played the episode right now.

  • If there is a season two, I won't be playing. The novelty factor will be gone; honestly, I'd much rather spend the same amount of money on the books. I enjoyed this game most of the way through, but its good parts do not add up to a very strong whole. And although I agree with you that most all the characters got their closure, I think the way they did it was almost unbelievably lazy. "Let's get 'em all together in one room and have a trial." Lazy - lazy - lazy. That's my problem with the last episode, and in the end, it brings down the whole game and its story.

  • I really hope there's a season two, personally, or at least a DLC. And I think the trial was the only way this could go - it wasn't exactly laziness (actually kind of the opposite, technically - all those characters in one room, talking all over each other with no lag at all, at least on my part, was a big improvement on Telltale's part) since Bigby couldn't really just decide what to do with the Crooked Man without consulting all those involved. Generally, I think Cry Wolf brought equal amounts of action and equal amounts of story/dialogue with a good sequel bait at the end. But who knows.

  • Not as short as the recent episodes have been. Plus, it was the finale, and all the other episodes were 2h - 2h30 long.
