That damned ribbon
What if Faith figured out a way to craft a glamour of sorts similar to the donkey skin(obviously different) but this time she used a familiar ribbon to conceal her identity. Maybe that's why she wouldn't remove it? I looked up several versions of the donkey skin fairy tale and in most of the versions she had a fairy crafting different magical dresses and the donkey skin for her. Seems like a magical ribbon made from some fabric is right up her alley.
