Decision Nick vs Pete: Head vs Heart
How many of you actually take decisions by heart when playing this game? When you see at the end of EP1 it was clear that Pete was bitten so the most logical choice here would be to run to Nick and try to save him also the fact that knowing Pete, he would definitely embrace death rather than being a burden on others and cut his leg. Pete has been good to clem since inception but what about his bite? does it weigh more than your loyalty to him?

I'm not a Vulcan!
I chose Pete!
Why i choose Nick...
I chose pete the first time then nick in other playthrough a I felt like I prolonged Petes suffering
Pete was dying, so i thought the choice was obvious.
I chose Pete. I didn't like Nick in Episode 1. Even though Pete got bit, then he shouldn't die alone, he deserved better because he was the nicest character in Episode 1, and the only person there was nice to Clem. Its a shame that he died so fast, i think he would've been an awesome character.
"Pete has been good to Clem since inception but what about his bite? Does it weigh more than your loyalty to him?"
This is both a good way of asking a good question and an interesting way to point out how quickly one needs to assess risk versus benefit while living with these new rules. At first, I went with Nick because I calculated that Pete's injury would put everyone else at risk, and if I tried to intervene, Clem would be on her own, and since Nick isn't much help, either, that road pretty much led to disaster for more than just Pete. Of course, going with Nick is like a role reversal where Clem has to take care of him, but it's away from hungry walkers, so the chances for survival are better. With that in mind, getting back to the larger group means that they, too, will fare better.
So, when you ask about loyalty, I don't think that really fits into the reality of this particular situation, because Pete himself knew he was done for and that it would be stupid to try and rescue him. However, if you do, all Clem ends up doing is leaving Nick on his own (which is dangerous enough) and turning Pete's inevitable death into a more comfortable, less gruesome end. Sure, that's compassionate, but in terms of weight, to me, the bite and what it means weighs more.
Even though I'm usually a person that relies more on my head than heart, I actually make most of my decisions based on my heart in this game, so obviously I chose Pete. He was my favourite of the cabin group initially, and even though I knew he was bit and likely to die soon, I had hope that I could save him (why couldn't we amputate his leg?!), or at least prolong his life a little, but sadly my hopes were in vain. He went out like a real hero though, and it's really sad considering one of the last scenes with him is him saying he doesn't want to die and having regrets about Nick.![:( :(](https://community.telltalegames.com/resources/emoji/frowning.png)
My head is my heart.
First time around I picked Nick because I thought he would die if I didn't pick him, and Pete was bitten. I really like Pete though, so I tend to pick him now.
Pete was a goner but i still chose him, friends don't leave friends behind!
Went with my head and my heart made me regret it later. This was one of those TWD decisions that taught me a lesson to actually think situations through and not act pragmatically from the get-go.
I chose Pete because I was hoping that he wasn't bitten, I mean he trusted us and we could have been bitten, so I trusted him. But..my mistake...
I choose Pete, because a simple patch of grass made me unsure if he was bitten or not. I gave him the benefit of the doubt.
I chose Nick first (Because I thought Pete was his father and he'd want me to do it, out of respect to him), but then when I realized he was only his uncle, I rewinded and saved Pete like I wanted to do in the first place, so you can say I use both logic and gut feelings.
