***-speaking group

edited July 2014 in The Walking Dead

Ha-ha. I love that moment when you know the stuff the characters are saying (that's written) on language protagonists supposedly don't understand. No, they didn't say anything interesting or useful, just common stuff for this situations.

I must admit Arvo (strange name, i wonder is he from Estonia?) speaks almost as good as a native-speaker (and his eng with rus accent sounds very genuine), but the language constructions he uses are a lil' odd («Грудничковый ребенок» (which you can loosely translate to "baby kid") instead of «грудничок» or «младенец» / «младенчик»... but it may be regional peculiarity). Others are plain hilarious, especiouly a skin-head with independent tatoo on his nape, he talks like an american mocking russian «Йа Хорошьий Мужчьина» or something like that...so... maby he's american and they use this language as their secret code or something. Or maby Arvo's native speeker, who reads not very accurate translation and others are people reading transliterations.

Looking forward for this group.

P.S. Voice acting for this characters leaves much more to be desired and IMHO are the weakest of the cast, they totaly broke me out of experience.

  • The thing is, only Russian speakers are going to have the same gripe as you. To a non-Russian speaker it seemed very legit and added to the craziness of the episode.

It's just strange that Arvo, if not a great actor, at least speeks fluently, while others are freaking bad. It's like 90s with its terrible actors all over again.

  • I laughed so hard when I heard their pronunciation :) And I think all Russians did.

I didn't. This was a shoddy work on Telltale's part. I'm not Russian, by the way, I just speak Russian as my first language.

  • I'm not even Russian and i noticed that Buricko(the skin head)'s russian was kind of weird.

  • Don't get me wrong this type have all rights to exist and i bet it does, it's just his pronounciation. I understand that it's highly improbable, but it'd be great to have his and other dude lines re-recorded.
