For those that don't like season 2 (nothing negative)
Ok so I see a lot of people here don't seem to like season 2 very much and get that but get this. With season 1 telltale hadn't done anything like this before so they were just kinda having fun with it not trying to make anything amazing just something they liked. I've seen interviews with sean vanaman that back that up. A lot of the choices were the first things that pop in their heads. Then all the reviews and acclaim come in and then it's game of the year which is huge. I know telltale gotten that before but I don't think it was on that level. Plus with the walking dead being as big as it is right now it's a big deal. Now they have season 2 and they have all this pressure from the fans and the media to create a sequel that's just as good or better. You also have new writers trying to live up to the old guys its a lot of pressure. So my thing is maybe telltale isn't having fun anymore? The best things happen when you're having fun and people can tell when you aren't.

One up vote ok ok I like it.
Makes sense
That's what I'm trying to do.
And?... Telltale bites off more than they can chew, game quality suffers for it, and... what? Am I supposed to feel sorry for them? I paid for this crap, so that ain't happening.
No you don't have to I'm just giving a reason as to why it's lacking
10 up votes?!? You all are too kind really stop.
I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who isn't aware of that. I'm still curious as to what you expect to happen as a result of this thread. Even if you manage to elucidate the cause of the waning quality of the series for some people, how is that of any use? Like I said, I paid for this. Knowing why it's not only not as good (fully expected as sequels rarely live up to its predecessor), but flat out mediocre doesn't soothe the sting. I'm still utterly disappointed.
I don't mean to be hard on you. I know you mean well. None of this is your fault. If I come across too harsh, I apologize.
Hey don't forget to dicuss...it's a discussion.
They needed 100,000 to break even in Season 1 and sold over 24 million plus they got critical acclaim with a perfect mix of length, gameplay and story with such a huge budget to profit ratio the potential to expand in all areas to a great degree was huge. Plus the old saying comes to mind if it's not broken don't fix it.
Do I feel sympathy for telltale no there ambition was to become a huge company which came true but when you make millions and get noticed the expectation raises and the demand for the product to be of a high standard being compared to match previous standards is natural and will only improve the game.
Ask telltale go back to sam and max which they made minimal profit and got no criticism or make millions and receive a lot more criticism as business they grown so they would be delighted. Notice they will only buy bigger brands over sequels to previous TWD S1 era now there getting GOT/BL if they take on huge titles the expectation will only raise more.
Now if the game was free I would give no criticism but for anyone being a paying customer they have every right to give their opinion on the quality of the product. Judge the quality of the product you buy not the circumstances with the company out of your control like the pressures or making so many games at once no other company gets that sort of sympathy it will only lead to a drop in standards and excuses.
I still think it's a great game but not as good a game as S1
Telltale themselves admitted they would have a tough time meeting the standards they set with Season 1. In my opinion, they've done a pretty damn good job considering the circumstances.
Is Season 2 perfect? Does it rival the previous season? Not at all, but that's no reason to lash out and hate all over it.
No it's cool it's cool i just want everyone to relax and realize everything's gonna be fine because you guys get really passionate on here and sometimes translates to anger and I don't think it's necessary. There's no need for all that anger telltale makes these for us to have fun with so let's do just that but I understand if you're mad about money wasted.
Who's hating or lashing? Or are you speaking in general?
Hmmm good point.
Thanks and you made great points as well glad you respected a different opinion very rare here sometimes
You know what I think?
A lot of us (including me) played Season 1 as a whole, without those episode time gap. And it was a perfect experience because of it; felt complete.
Now, with the conclusion of TWAU, every episode meant more than it originally was (at least for me it has). Cry Wolf added meaning and significance to the past episodes, as did Season One with No Time Left.
Because of that, I think that Season Two will be looked differently after No Going Back, all will make sense, and Season Two will be praised just as One and TWAU were.
Let's wait to see the "Big Picture".
Yea man no prob I love hearing different points of view from people that think differently than I do.
While I agree it isn't as great as the first season, it is still good in my opinion. I love a good story, and Telltale nails that with every one of the games I've played of theirs. I HATE cliffhangers, but the waiting is worth while, why? Because the next episode means more story. It feels like a television series in its own right.
I know many of you may not enjoy ST: TNG, but look at that for a moment. Specifically the episodes Best of Both Worlds and Time's Arrow. Both two part episodes. Both great episodes, both have some MAJOR cliff hangers. The great thing about these episodes were in fact the cliffhangers. Because it left you wanting more. And going back to this game, it does the same thing. It makes you want more. The story doesn't have to be awesome, it just has to be good, and Telltale nails that every time.
It's why I keep comming back.
Anyways, thats my 2 cents. Have a good one.
Yea I played season 1 on disc along with the 400 days dlc
It's because Lee is gone... if Lee was still alive, I guarantee you people would still love The Walking Dead if Clementine had a father figure. I think it is just that everyone misses him ya know. Season 2 is not the same without Lee. but honestly, I don't see why some people hate it. This season is a lot more "active." In season 1, there was a lot of moments where you were pretty much just sitting around. Like the pharmacy, the train. There isn't much of that in Season 2, but people still hate it for some reason. In my opinion, both of them are great and have the same quality. If not, better for some. I'm just saying this season is even better to some it all up. I was so excited to play episode 4 and I probably will be the excited for episode 5 too.
P.S. I'm not a fanboy, I've only played two games from Telltale (The Walking Dead S1/2)
I'm just saying all these people complaining about everything just need to shut up.
Whispering to Season Two: You're not as bad as everyone says you are
Thank you for commenting. Have a good day as well.
Haha I like that!
I sorta agree...
Lee would make a HUGE difference...
Yea we all miss lee he was great. And don't worry I don't care if you're a fanboy I'm not gonna get mad if you are. Everyone is welcome here.
I believe, that i speak for most, all of us, when i say, Telltale, have offered an amazing start to a thrilling story, and dynamic way of telling stories, but have left us reeling, with direction of story, and release of episodes.
That been said, who, does not still, get that thrill and excitement, when the episode, is released, who does not get a bite of caution, when they play, they first few moments, of the episode, and for many of us, its still, setting a strong and understood, flowing story, that may not be, understood, or flowing in the direction, we like, all the time. none the less, its still driving us, to unearth the, direction, it will take.
I for one, commend, Telltale. I could jump, on the wagon, and name call, and be upset with every decision, they make, not what, id do, anyway of course. But,
i had the problems, when the 400 days, episode came out, and it wiped, my entire, playthroughs, and memory, of the game, that alone, made me, wary, of getting, the next season of walking dead.
Im glad, im not just led, by emotions, of the time, cos for me, the 2nd season, is doing, what it said, on the box.
Giving you, an emotional and dynamic story, that is driven, by, your will to, complete it, for the reasons, it desires to give. to me.
Clementine, could not be much more, badass, as she is. many may, want more, many may, not see, what is been built, many may not care a less{ id ask why they are playing.}.
Ultimately, this is, Telltales story, and direction, and focus, and im, in for the long haul.
They may of led us down a garden path, but who knows, they just may lead you to a beautiful paradise.
Iv restarted my games, multiple times, thats cos, i believe, in the right frame of mind, you will get that perfect game, and the story you want. Nothing, is ever perfect, and hoping things are, aint gonna make it so.
Take the game, as it takes you. full of emotion and thought, and ready for anything, but, been happy, with what we get.
For i think, its all the notes, of the first season, and is, building to an amazing, crescendo.
Im,looking forward, to seeing what the, Telltale team, will do, with Game of Thrones, and, if there, is a 2nd season, of, The Wolf Among us. This is just my opinion, but, if like me, you enjoy, been transported, into a weird and crazy world.
Where anything can happen, and you have to check your emotions and your understanding, of the world, to continue, and be part of it.
Then im sure, what ever our upsets are, they can be overcome.
Im biting, at the bit, for the next episode, but that makes, it all that more, satisfying, when it does arrive, have some patience, and all will, come in time.
Optimism very nice! Oh next slip your comment into paragraphs. I like what you said I just had a hard time reading it.
sorry on the essay, lol. i got bit carried away, and i dont leave messages, too often. I do stand, by what i said though. I hope others, can see, through the mire, of problems, we are all facing, but we, find a different, way to approach it. The games, are good either way, but the problems, and not meeting of everyones needs, can blindside, something that, should, be appreciated. Take care to all, and Happy Gaming.
Haha the essay was fine and happy gaming to you man.
Oh no I'm sinking to the bottom! Gotta come up for air.
