Theories for Russians.Spoliers.
So let's come up with some theories for this Russian group who appear at he end of episode 4 and why they are in TWD universe that is based in the USA.
Now when they first appeared I was like err wtf? Is this for real? A group of Russian gangsters in the American countryside? I could understand that if it was just the one guy Arvo or maybe 2 but for there to be a group of them and for them to be stereotypical just didn't seem normal to me for TWDG, it doesn't make much sense. So I could only think of two theories:
1.They were part of the Russian mafia based in the USA but had to leave the major city they were in and flee to the countryside to survive the walkers like everyone else.
2.They are like Russian terrorists or something but hate the USA for the whole cold war thing which nobody cares about anymore, but these guys still do and they are the ones who started the zombie Apocalypse by releasing the virus which was made by Arvo who is really a mad scientist and the others guys are just his goons.
So what do you guys think of them?

2 Is fucking crazy in my opinion.
but yeah it was kind of strange. I was like this is America what the fuck are russians doing here?
Lol I was just joking with number 2 although the writers of season 2 will probably like that idea because it's so stupid.
Plot twist! They came from a boat.
I wouldn't be surprised...
Robert Kirkman wouldn't allow that, he said that he has no intention in explaining or focusing on what started the apocalypse and never will.
So i guess they attack even if you didnt rob them, seems about right. I didnt trust that kid for some reason
Yeah they do and he says that you robbed him i was like WTF are you talking about but atleast i could say it was Jane not any of us.
I know this might seem like a crazy idea, but what if they were gasp immigrants?
While central and south americans target the southern/western states for migration, europeans target northern/eastern states. It's actually not an uncommon thing for foreigners to be in the U.S. On top of that, if there are places like Chinatown (for example) then that means that people who immigrate to the states potentially don't even have to learn english since they have their own little bubble of a community and can get by on living that way. It's not too much of a far-fetched idea.
Don't get me wrong. Russian gangsters are so cliche, but they're not mythical creatures like the unicorn.
I think he was referring to Jane keeping his gun, which was still stupid for him to be angry since Clementine let him keep the medicine. He even thanked her, if I remember correctly.
I agree a lot of immigrant communities stay together creating communities.
"For the last time Roman, i don't want to go fucking bowling!"
That moment when Russians shows up. I'm pretty confused at that moment too lol. I really have no idea about who they are,but I like your second theory lol.
reads option 2
seems legit
Shots fired
Rule number 1: If Russian is in the game he's the terrorist/bandit/antagonist. Why? BECAUSE.
Put drunk bears with balalaikas on the bicycle to complete the picture. And winter of course. In Russia there is always winter. Could it be anymore cliché?
Immigrants
I live in Oregon, along the coast is a very large population of Russians from the old Whaling industry so the fact that their may be Russians living across America doesnt mean they are spies or terrorist's. They could simply be another community of survivors doing what they must to survive. Wouldnt you agree that people of a certain culture would band together to survive a world-wide apocalypse? People who understand the same language and beliefs? The way I saw it, other than the language barrier, they were just people doing what they have to.
They are definitely druggy bandits.
Plot Twister They stole the boat from vernon!
3 . Heavy is in their group and he'll help us with Sasha.
Would be beyootiful.
The user April suggested on my thread that Arvo was lying to his group and keeping the supplies for himself. After all, the first time we meet him, he is seen attempting to HIDE the bag in a rubbish bin in the middle of nowhere. There could be tensions in the group that force him to do it, or he might just be a selfish ass
It really seemed he tried hard to argue back when they said they had a baby though. Asshole or no?
If I remember, Arvo almost seemed to sigh when they popped out of the bushes. They're obviously using his leg to make other people feel sorry for him. He obviously tried telling them not to shoot when Clementine calls out that they have a baby. Him trying to hide the bag is very interesting, I'm sure we'll see more of that in episode 5. (Maybe they're actually keeping his sister? Did she even exist?)
They're Russians in the American media, hence, they're evil. Or at least funny.
As far as i know almost ALL americans are in fact immigrants or at least immigrants descendants... And a lot of them is hypocrites enough to be angry at newcomers, for intruding "their" country and stealing their jobs xD
The Russians threw me off, too. If anything, I was expecting Puerto Ricans or Mexicans if they had to go with someone other than Americans. I would have preferred angry rednecks, though. Guess any of those were too obvious. So either they'll get an interesting explanation in the finale or Telltale will brush it under the rug. After the Ukraine thing and now MH17, though, I can't help but feel the choice of Russians was in poor taste. After the invasion of the Ukraine, Telltale had plenty of time to change the makeup of the bandit group to something that wasn't in such bad taste. Now with MH17, they really should have changed it.
While you can say that those of the same cultural background will stick together, eventually they do end up branching out. America would be heavily divided (and possibly even inbred) if our ancestors stuck to their own groups. Chances are the only reason that group happens to be together is because they all spoke Russian. Whether they're all really Russian is another matter. Europeans are often multilingual so possibly they all are different ethnicities but have Russian in common as a second language. Arvo was possibly the only one to speak English which they obviously needed despite his leg making him a liability.
My thinking is maybe they were on vacation from Europe to the US and the outbreak hit stranding them there. Clara in the TV show on the fourth season talks about her and her husband Eddie being on their honeymoon and were in an airport when the outbreak hit. So chances are foreigners got stuck in strange places as a result.
I thought it was so laughable that they can't be serious.
I bet there is a major plot twist coming with the Russians turning out to be the nicest people on earth despite the mobster tattoos. And there is a really good reason why they are so edgy (I mean I robbed them, why should they be nice to me). It's just too dumb to have evil Russians in a game that is about the greys.
It's like meeting a bunch of Germans listening to Kraftwerk and turning out to be NAZIs responsible for the ZA and now heading to the moon for the 4th Reich.
Option 2... My thoughts exactly xD
I assume they were probably family/friends before the apocolypse and have just been luckier than most at sticking together. It's far from unusual for people to befriend others from their home country and have a little community. There's literally no reason at all why they'd be criminals.
After reading some of these comments im not so annoyed and let down about the whole thing.
Seriously?? But then...how will they ever find a cure, or resolve the ZA? You can't solve a problem without knowing what the problem is first!
That was never his intention, he wanted to focus on the characters and each of the individual's way in handling the apocalypse, how they handle the subject of humanity.
They might all be related.
Why do they have to be gangsters? They could just be normal survivors... and they could all be related and moved to the U.S. together.
That's all well and good, and honestly what I prefer. But I also thought Kirkman said there was going to be an actual endgame planned? At least that's what I read about the tv show (and maybe the comics too?). If he never goes into what caused it, I can't imagine how they could solve the little problem of having the dead come back to life, even if society is otherwise back to normal. Not to mention, the characters deserve a fitting end to their arcs. Hmm going to google....
Edit: Duh, a virus caused it. facepalm They just haven't figured out how yet.
Here's the link about the emotional endgame: here And the main quote from it: “I would say ‘Yes’ [there is an end-game]. I actually don’t like spoiling myself on the comic. I read it as I go,” Gimple revealed.
“Robert’s offered to tell me the whole thing so I get general aspects of it. I know the emotional end game of the show but there’s practical aspects, I want to keep with the comic. With these characters, you definitely have to think of the emotional endgame and that is very much a part of where I’m headed. But I want to have the flexibility to change the practicals with the comic and I don’t want Robert to spoil the whole series for me.”
Well I guess it sounds more like if there's a definite end to the characters, but not necessarily the ZA. Fantastic.
It'll be
vs the Russians
Literally.
Yep, even the Native Americans are the descendants of Stone Age immigrants from Asia.
But nevertheless, please don't lump sensible people like me and other sensible Americans with the vocal minority of retards. Not all of us hate immigrants with a passion.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
But seriously that ain't never happening bro.
