Episode 5 - To Have Determinant Deaths?

edited July 2014 in The Walking Dead

Since we have a small cast of characters left. Such as Bonnie, Mike, Kenny, Luke, Clementine and the baby. This mirrors the group at the end of Episode 4, and beginning of Episode 5 of Season One. Which was Lee, Kenny, Ben, Christa, Omid and Clementine. Telltale managed to have that cast of characters have a determinant function in which depending on your choices, depends on who comes with you to rescue Clementine. Even though it counted Christa and Omid as one person (meaning they'd either both come with you or leave you), they could do the same for Bonnie and Mike, or Kenny and Luke or someone and the baby.

Instead of it being about who comes with you. It would be who dies or who is alive. But at the end it could say "Who survived with you to Wellington?"
Everyone in your group has minor wounds (except Clementine and the baby) whilst all the Russians but Arvo are dead. You can decide the fate of Arvo. The minor wounds include being shot in somewhere like their shoulder, or the arm they don't use. Mike and Bonnie may have injuries to an arm they do use, or one of their legs.

Clementine will always survive at the end. So your choices depends on who comes with you and who dies in the bitter cold. That way the deaths can be meaningful, players will build a stronger emotional connection to characters, choices are important and the episode would carry a sadistic tone.

There would be "trick decisions", decisions in which you may have to rob or kill to look after your people and your other choices will either come back to save you or ruin your chances.

So what do you think? Would you like this idea?

  • Well err damn. But thanks anyway.

I like the idea. I love the life/death decisions because they are simply entertaining. If something like what you proposed actually happened

Arvo is dead! So are all the others in their group.
I didn't choose to Shoot Rebecca or to call for help. I was really hoping that she'd eat the baby!
If there is wounded then Kenny is going to be first to go into the great beyond. I was hoping he'd suicide himself earlier but that wasn't an option.
Who ever has the warmest coat for Clem will also be put down. Gotta keep her warm!
This is the walking dead so if there was a way to "forget" where clem left the baby then that may get a click!

Yes, I'm playing clem as a 'psycho' and it's been a blast! Great 2nd Season! Hope it just gets more dark and demented!
