Feeling Let Down

  • I didn't feel let down by the episode per sea, it was what i thought it would be and it was generally entertaining. But i did feel a little unsatisfied after my play through. It felt underdeveloped and somewhat rushed to me. But again, i was entertained enough by the episode to feel like it wasn't a waste of my time or anything.

The two best characters introduced in this season, Carver and Jane, are both gone so my hopes for the finale aren't too high aren't right now.

  • Totally agree with your comment on the stranger in S1, when it happened, I thought "come on guys" and was by far the weakest part of S1...

Maybe ill take your advice and maybe playthrough it all again and try get some out of the season, sorry for the ranting just disappointed a wee bit lol

  • I disagree about the clementine angle.

To be blunt, Clementines "personal journey" in this season of games hasn't interested me at all. At all. Maybe it was the sudden time jump that saw her go from a somewhat naive and helpless little girl into a 4 foot 100 pound wrecking ball. You would think it would be exciting seeing her develop into an adult in the walking dead world, but the portrayal of that has been flat and one dimensional, IMO.

  • Season two has it's fair share of problems. But it is not as bad as described here. The community is in rage mode.

  • Really? I think it's been the exact opposite.

  • Lee's death was a huge influence on Clem. I felt it throughout my entire playthrough of the first four episodes. Then again, character development depends on how far you are willing to dive into this world. I had my Clementine mostly silent during the beginning of the first episode, because I did not know what to say, my thoughts were running wild about Lee's death. I was a bit sassy when I met the new group, I did not like them, I did not trust them, I did not want to get emotionally attached because I knew they would all end up dying. Then, the whole thing with Carver made my Clementine more mature. When she watched him die at the end of the third episode, it was a huge turning point for her. Then, the deaths at the end of the episode and the fourth kinda tore my world apart. Everything became hopeless. I think there's been some stale character development if you are willing to really dig into this game and play a consistent character.

  • Maybe. Or at least a switch of perspective.

  • Im not in rage mode at all I just think its been a lazzy series...

Raging on a game imo is when people are bitching about their sword only does x amount of damage, this is different, im swinging my sword and never hitting anything here, the core of the game isnt working....

  • "Shame on you" is pretty enrage.
I get the criticism, I think that there are a lot of valid points. But attacking and insulting the telltale stuff is what makes me upset.
What makes me upset as well is when some users talk about "a huge disaster", "worst writing ever". There's a difference between not great and extremely bad. Even when I take your points into consideration, the story is still fun and it's at least OKAY. It's not extremely bad.
I still think that the second season works far better than the first, though. I enjoy replaying it more than I enjoyed replaying the first season (which I did once, while I played the second season four times).

I get that. But having her go from this typical little girl to this supergirl that is making critical decisions for grown adults who don't know her (and also who have survived a zombie apocalypse for two years) is kinda ridiculous. She could be more wise, yes, but the contrast of clementines was so sudden in this season of games i couldnt help but feel jolted by it. The games are not bad and ive enjoyed playing them, but were missing the depth we got last season.

  • I can see your point.
There have been multiple moments throughout this season where I was surprised how much the adults want from clementine, especially in episode three.
That's why I think that the start of "All that Remains" has been incredibly strong (especially the scene with the dog). I understand you, it's just that it does not bother me that much. On the other hand, my expectations for this second season had been incredibly low before I played the first episode.

  • I think the sequence at the camp with the dog has been the highpoint of season two. Season two should have had of that vibe, IMO.

  • At least we can agree on that. :D
Season two probably could have been a lot stronger if Clementine would have had faced more problems like the dog thing. The fight with the dog was such an adrenaline rush and so unexpected! I liked the survivor sequence where you sneak into the house as well, that's why I don't get the hate that "All that Remains" gets. To be honest, I think that the second episode of this season might be the weakest.

  • My thoughts exactly, and people loved both Chuck and Mark!

Did you see Clementines reaction to Rebecca and also... in season 1 there was lots of deaths that weren't given much attention. When Chuck died it was not a big deal. Marks death wasn't a big deal no one cried over it.
