what telltale wanted to do in episode 4

hey there everyone,
so, i'm seeing people that say ''sarah/sarita dies no matter what, then why would telltale give us the choice to save her ?''

well, i have an answer to this question, they wanted to make us think that they WILL live..
the theme of ''amid the ruins'' was hopelessness, telltale gave us a choice to cut sarita's hand or not, everybody(or almost) thought that cutting her hand was the best we could do, but it turned out it was the worst choice..
as for sarah, telltale gave us the option to save her in the trailer, we(those who actually did save her:p) thought that she was gonna live through the episode as we saved her, BUT after all, she dies regardless.. telltale wanted to make us feel the hopelessness that the group is living. and there are people that didn't understand that, that's why they're saying ''fuck you telltale, killing sarah-sarita like that is dumb'', as for me, i really appreciated this, they made a real good change !
another point i want to talk about, as everyone is talking about that ''FUCK YOU TELLTALE, why is there eddie in the episode 4's photo as he doesn't actually appear''.. i just want to ask you ''did telltale said it was eddie ?'' not because you thought of something cool, means that it has to be true ? the dude looks like eddie, but it doesn't HAVE to be him.. i personally think that the people that were behind clem in the pic are those russians, haven't you noticed that the girl from that pic looks A LOT to the russian girl ?(which is NOT arvo's sister, i felt like arvo was lying, and that he doesn't have any sister :p) ? and ''eddie'' looks also like one of the russians(except the russian is not wearing a cap, that's why we couldn't notice it).. wanna know what you think about it

the only thing i didn't like in this WHOLE season, is the death of nick, and the fact that carver could've lived longer :p only my opinion though

  • no thoughts ?

  • Yeah, I didn't have a problem with the fact that Sarita or Sarah died regardless (though I thought Sarita would stick around for a little bit longer... It felt like Pete in Episode 2 - like they shifted the episode divide 15 minutes earlier just to leave a cliffhanger). In any case, it reminds me of one of opening lines in Titus Andronicus "Hail, Rome, victorious in thy mourning weeds! ... Romans, of five and twenty valiant sons, /Half of the number that King Priam had, /Behold the poor remains, alive and dead!" - They won against Carver, but at an immense cost. The ruins in "Amid the Ruins" plays both as the ruins of the historical park, and also what has become the ruins of the party.

As far as Eddie though, I think that was clearly Eddie on the title screen, and Telltale had simply rewritten him out of the plot.

  • Well, judging by Sarah's second death, I would have assumed the theme of Amid the Ruins was bad writing OOOOOOHHHHH!!!!

  • It didn't give me a sense of hopelessness as much as it gave me a sense that no body (characters) cared about much outside themselves. The character's lack emotions and reactions to certain situations is probably what killed that for me.

  • Sarah and Sarita were bound to die in this season, I but the drag was that I didn't care. Sarah had been such a drag the whole time that when she finally died, It was kinda nice. Would have been more interesting if she had died in the previous episode and Carlos had not... But then there would've been a doctor around... And that wouldn't have worked. Telltale is obviously flying by the seat of their pants with this season, it's just bad writing. If the theme of the season is hopelessness, Its working. I have no hope for a brilliant finale. I am even starting to hate Kenny so much that if he died I wouldn't care.

  • xDDDD you made me laugh at least :p but i'm not agreeing

  • youre right. and I played it again, and damn I think it felt like better this time around, I mea I still loved it but it felt a lil better. I think that its this forums. they ruin shit for everyone. when I first saw the gamplay, I though it was awesome, then I come here read all the negative shit, although they still have some points, and when it finaaly came to play it the 1st time I couldn't enjoy it too much. it still made me feel like it was really cool, but all the sht here just ruins it a bit. now that I didn't read the bitching ii replayed it my second time like always and it was more awesome

  • that's how human kind is, searching for negative points in something, guess it's better sometimes thou..

Yeah, this mysterious person on episode four's slide just happens to have the same piercing that Eddie has, and looks exactly like him.

    Seems legit.

  • Honestly I never payed much attention to all the Eddie posts. Then when Mike showed up in episode 3, I simply figured that was him in the episode 4 title screen and quickly moved on. Don't get me wrong, I thought Eddie was awesome (though I hated how he repeatedly kicked my ass at rock paper scissors) and it sucks not seeing if he's alive or not.

Still holding out hope episode 5 ends the season with a glorious (and most likely heartbreaking) end.
