How will they get to Wellington?

edited July 2014 in The Walking Dead

Okay so I did a little research, and I found the only possible solution for Wellington to be in, is either Florida, Colorado or Ohio. Now it's clearly not Florida, that would mean we would be moving to the south, not the north.

It can't be Colorado as that's all the way to the west.

So the only possibility is it to be in Ohio, which is in the north. Now how on earth will the group get there now?

EDIT: Wrong image but still It says that it will take 281 hours. If they walked with no rest, twenty four hours a day. It'd take them 11 days. If they did it with twelve hours a day, it'd take them all twenty three days! That is at least three weeks. Plus with all the other dangers and needs added in! I don't know if they could.

Do you honestly think the group will make it to Wellington at least sometime soon, or will there be a time-skip of some sort? How long do you think it'll take the group to get to Wellington?

Comments

  • Are you sure this is the one? Remember, it has to be near Michigan.

If that's the one, i'd say they could get there in a month, if they're lucky.

  • Wellington is in Michigan. Kenny states as much during the dinner conversation in Episode 2.

As for how they get there? Determination and the Power of Friendship.

If this is the case, I'm thinking time skip.

Also in the ep. 5 there's an achievement "we slowly drove" so we could have a time skip while they're driving and then we get to Wellington.

  • The achievement is called: "We Slowly Drove", or something along those lines.

And the picture is a truck.

  • If Nate shows up well...... It would be funny especially if there was a Clem Eyes or a Slap Nate option...

Nate: Why hello there. That your little brother? Gorked eyes

    Slaps Nate

Nate: I like you already. Get in.

Russian Harry Potter will fly them to Wellington on Hippogriffs.

  • You see those two bodies of water (lakes) at the top of the map in the center? Michigan is right between them...

Are you sure this is the one? Remember, it has to be near Michigan. If that's the one, i'd say they could get there in a month, if they're lucky.

  • Why don't you just edit this picture into your original post? :)
Some people probably don't even read comments so they might miss this..

Based on the achievements there is a possibility that the group might drive up there; however, if I were to guess a smart way on how to get up to Wellington I would offer this:

I'm not really sure where in North Carolina the group is but there are tons of smaller rivers that you don't see on this map. In episode 4 you can even see a pretty big river with a fairly strong current running through the place. If they stuck to rivers they could at least do some fishing and they'd have water available. Personally I'd try to make my way to the mississippi river and then go along the illinois river which lands you right in Lake Michigan. If the group had a boat it'd be easier to row to Wellington rather than treck through all the land where the walkers could be hiding.

There are a few issues with the rivers though. Taking a boat up from North Carolina wouldn't be an option as the current would be against them. The best the group could hope for would be to just walk along the river and use its resources for survival. Once they'd get to the lake it wouldn't be so much of a problem. If they could find themselves a ferry then they'd be set. However, the other issue is that is just began to snow. Rivers can freeze over (no fish) and if the lake freezes over as well then they can't row their way to Wellington. Also, none of them have warm enough clothes to deal with the kind of winter that Canadians and Europeans deal with. Logically they should hole up someplace else and wait it out cause they'd just freeze to death on their way over there.

Eh, if the writers for season 3 will be the same for season 2 then you won't even get an answer as to how they got there and what else happened over the time skip (anyone remember how Christa was pregnant and they got rid of that "problem" by time skipping through it?). Who knows if they'll even show the group getting there at all.

  • I'm sure they'll take a train.

  • I can't tell if you're joking or not. o.o

I think the chances of them finding another working train with fuel in it and nothing blocking the train tracks would be pulling a deus ex machina move. Although, the other option is that they would just simply walk along the train tracks which would help them with not getting lost. That could be plausible. :)

  • Deus Ex Machina and time skip, how else would they get there?

  • I don't think the writers are going to ensure they are geographically correct in terms of time taking to go there. I don't think they were expecting us fans to have such a detailed response. As others have suggested, it seems like a car will be the way to go.

  • This ones easy. The Russians will live in a circus tent. Once they get out, they'll steal some bears on unicycles and hitch a ride on them.

    ...

  • Perfection :D

Somebody on tumblr helped me with this before when I was researching it for a fic, but I think they could get there with a car within at least a day or so if they're lucky and have enough gas. If we're talking about getting there on foot, then with the numbers you mentioned we have to taken into account the winter weather, walkers, herds and then the bandits that might slow them down. So a good month at least as long as everybody is fit and healthy and they can find food.

But with a baby with them too, that'll slow the group down even more because they'll have to stop more frequent to change diapers and feed the little guy [I'm not a mom, but I took care of my nephew with my family while his mother was in hospital for two weeks, he slept a lot, but woke up needing something about every two hours if I remember correctly. So you can imagine tending to a baby while on the move in a zombie apocalypse is going to be a lot tougher for them and have getting to Wellington take longer].

But a time jump could be possible. Unless they get a car and nothing's blocking the roads, don't run into any trouble and the weather doesn't turn bad making the roads no longer drivable, then they could make it there much sooner.

  • I smell another time skip which is unfortunate since I have had enough of them already but I wouldn't be surprised if we got one half way through the episode.

  • Here's the issue I see with taking a car (though I doubt the writers care much about realism anymore). The fact that it's snowing in North Carolina means that it will only be worse the further north they get. Without a working government there are no street sweepers to clear the roads of snow; and even if the snow didn't pile on there would at least be ice for that so the car could swerve off path and everyone ends up in a wreck. As of right now they don't have a car; and even if they did find one they need chains on those tires for better grip and lots and lots of salt on the ice to keep it from being a death trap. With the amount of work they'd need to do to prep the road for the car, they might as well be better off walking. All of this isn't even including the fact that what if there are things like fallen trees or flipped over semi-trucks blocking the road? Still, the writers will probably just pull a deus ex machina and voila, problem "solved."

  • They'll find a boat and sail untill Wellington.

  • They get on a truck.

I checked the wiki they're in Tennessee not North Carolina

    http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/Parker's_Run

  • hours kenny will yell at clem to fix a pickup truck -we drove slowly-

  • Im joking... But hey that train from last season could still work.

I can't tell if you're joking or not. o.o I think the chances of them finding another working train with fuel in it and nothing blocking

  • I think it's in Ohio because I'm pretty sure Kenny said it's a camp NEAR Michigan.

  • And now that kenny's here they could use a boat.
