New Pairing, Anybody?
Alright, so, I have a new ship that I came up with a few months back, something I actually believe could be a reality in the sense that Telltale might actually put these two together. Okay, here we go.
Before you come back with any replies saying, "That's stupid," or, "You're dumb," or any of that, just think about it. Kenny's bound to end up with someone, because, as he's said, he doesn't want to be alone. Who better to be with than someone who knows exactly what he went through losing his family and relates to him in that sense? Just, think about the pairing for a moment, and then you can say whatever you'd like. I just want to know what other people think about it.

What would we call the ship?
Chrenny or Kennista?
I was thinking Kensta.
They did share a drink xD
I think Christa is far too... rational to ever see a reckless and half-insane man in that light :P
"That man is on the edge, and I don't wanna be around when he goes over it."
Before Season 2 came out, I actually thought that the two of them would get together (I always assumed Omid was a goner, but not in the way he went. Damn...) and that the two would raise Christa's child together once it was successfully born. If only
They did, indeed they did.

But that's actually another reason I think they would be good together, because they've also both looked to alcohol for relief from the world around them. They are really similar in a lot of ways. I desperately hope that Christa comes back in Episode Five, even if she and Kenny don't become a couple. I'm sure they'll be great friends, though. They might even hug!
They can sympathize with another on how they lost their lovers too :P Omid/Sarita
Yes, he may be reckless, but I feel like he only tries to do what's best for the group, those he cares about, though yes, it may be reckless. Also, think about it. Christa herself may be half-insane, but as we didn't see what happened between the time Omid died and the time the two of them were separated, and even if she's not, her rational side may be able to balance out Kenny's reckless side.
Yeah, except sympathy doesn't magically lead to romance. If that was true, we would have been treated to delightful ships like Cluke. What better way to bond and fall in love than over a mutual lack of living parents? :P
That's another thing I was thinking about, though. Kenny's been very loving to Rebecca's baby, having lost his own child, and I feel like now that Rebecca's gone, he will become the baby's father, meaning if Christa comes back, she could be it's mother! Then the void felt after the loss of their children can be filled partially.
I would be more than content as long as they both continue to be ALIVE. This game feels too dangerous for shipping anything, I learned that after Carley...
It's like anytime two people get close to each other I got the nervous feeling that one of them will die... Such a cruel world they live in.
I'm not saying they'd get together but it would be nice to see them reunite and talk about the past.
Yes, that's very true, but first of all, I'm not sure if Telltale ever said that Luke OR Nick were homosexuals (not that I would have a problem with that if they were, but I'm just pointing that out) Also, it seems like it would be less sympathy and more just understanding exactly what the other had gone through and was going through. Another thing I'd like to point out is that, in a lot of relationships today, those that I've observed, anyway, broken people gravitate toward each other. The more alike, the more connected and drawn to each other they feel.
Yes, exactly.
Along with their children. Duck/Christa's baby
Yeah, I feel you. I SHIPPED CARLEE.. AND THEN SHE DIED AND A PIECE OF ME DIED.
Ah, Telltale. You have such a talent. If ripping people's hearts out of their chests can be considered a talent.
I think Kenny's going to die before he meets Christa. I don't really care for seeing him continue on in another Season, and to be honest Christa doesn't seem like his 'type. She'd constantly call him out on his recklessness and hot temper, and he's not exactly the light-hearted man that Omid was.
Maybe they'll surprise me and have 4 survivors this time around. But I'm sick of having Kenny around, and all the hints about his character arc seem to be leading to his doom rather than redemption.
Er, you do know that Cluke means Clem/Luke right? Not Nick/Luke...
And yeah, I can understand broken people finding comfort and solace in people with similar pain. It's just that Christa would probably enjoy the company of people who suffered like her and weren't insanely reckless.
And we all know how Kenny reacts to people calling him out on his bullshit. Poorly.
I really don't want Kenny to be in Season Three, but I also kinda sorta want Christa and Kenny interact just so I can see Christa shut him down.
"Kenny couldn't pull that shit on me."
Just like how Rebecca kept calling his plans "stupid".
Yeah, I really liked how Rebecca didn't have any patience for Kenny's idiocy either.
One reason I liked Christa so much is that, finally, there was a rational character with us who didn't put up with Kenny's antics.
"You wouldn't have had a boat to lose without us, so shove it."
"Ever since this started, I've seen the best come out of some people, and the worst come out of others. Guess we know which side you came down on."
She wouldn't have let Kenny say all that abusive shit to Clem. Please come back Christa!
They are vastly different personalities and christa never have the impression of remotely liking kenny
In fact he's the exact kind of person she would really hate
Please god no ew
Christa wasn't emotionally open to Clem at all during the 16-months they spent alone together. That attitude was passed on down to Clem. While it was miserable, it still made Clementine a remarkably rational survivor.
Both Kenny and Christa seem to share a resentment for Clem's involvement in the loss of their loved ones, although I think they also both subconsciously realize the anger was aimed at themselves for failing. Christa still took care of Clem probably because she wanted to honor Omid and Lee's memories, while Kenny latches onto the baby and Clem because of his former family.
I don't know. They have misery in common, but that's not a healthy recipe.
I'm sure that deep down, they both care about Clem. Christa lied to bandits at gunpoint to protect her after all. But I'd still prefer someone who coped with loss by emotionally closing themselves off to someone who coped with loss by blowing up in my face.
My point was that Christa's competence and emotional detachment was transferred to Clem, and it's arguably what kept her alive far longer than any other mentor figure we've seen in the entire game series.
Sorry, misread what you said. But besides that, I'm not sure that Cluke is the best ship in the way of romantics just because Luke is so much older than Clem, at least ten years older, most likely more, and it's also a little strange to me just because I feel like Luke is more of an older brother to Clem than anything else.
You know, I didn't think about that. That is true, but maybe the fact that they relate to each other might bring them together at first, and then they can balance each other out, Christa's rationality balancing out Kenny's recklessness. I know that isn't always the case with people who have differences, but I hope it will be. I don't want Kenny OR Christa to be alone, and I hate to see them hurting, even if they are fictional characters.
I actually very much love Kenny as a character, though yes, he can be bullheaded, stubborn, and reckless at times. He only is because he's so broken, though, and he just wants to protect the people he has left. He has a lot of flaws, yes, but all of the characters do.
Yes, Christa might do just that, but I feel like if they do meet, all the suffering they've faced will bring them together at first, and perhaps than can balance each other out.
In the beginning, when they first met, that's true, they didn't like each other very much, but after some time of dealing with each other, they became friends. In fact, if you chose to let Ben fall in the bell tower or whatever, later on, Kenny jumps down to save Christa. He at least remotely cared about her, enough to sacrifice himself for her.
That's offtopic, but, OP, kudos to you for calling this a "pairing". I haven't seen this word being used to describe something like this since 2008.
To be honest, I always thought it would be interesting.
Damn
What about.....
Luke and Shel?
Haha, yes, I'm sure it's quite outdated. It just didn't sound right to me saying, "New Ship, Anybody?" I don't know why, but it just sounded strange.:)
Don't see it. I think Christa is a little too independent and headstrong for Kenny's personality. Kenny sees himself as the alpha male and I think someone like Bonnie (or Shel) would be more to his taste.
Kennista sounds like a dance. EVERYBODY GET DOWN AND DO THE KENNISTA!!!
Would you care to explain further why you don't like the ship? I really want to know, actually. I like discussing things with people, seeing others' opinions.
Wow this one I actually like weirdly
Oh, it does.
Actually, here's a quote for you from Gavin Hammon:
"I only "ship" postcards, you weirdos."
Their personalities seem to be conflicting, and they wouldn't really get along, at least I would think.
I don't think Christa has gotten over Omid, plus even if she did I don't think she would want to be with anybody else unless she really REALLY felt a connection with them; and I personally don't think she showed any special liking to Kenny in season 1. To try to pair them would seem a bit wrong in my opinion.
