Season 3 can be amazing if they do one thing

I know I am going to get a lot of dislikes for this, but I am fine with it, just please try not to be too disrespectful to me or anyone else commenting:

I love Clem, don't get me wrong. It was awesome seeing her story, but I'm not sure how much more they can carry it on. It would be really nice to see a new character with a personality/side that we haven't seen before.

Season 3 can be really good if they change the protagonist, or maybe even have us play as an antagonist. When season one ended with Clementine on her own, losing everything and seemingly everyone, there was a lot they still could've done with her character. But now? She's (seemingly) reaching the end of her character arc.

They can end her story with them reaching Wellington, or they can continue it with her, but everyone complaining about "no character development" in Season 2 can expect a whole lot less in Season 3 if they continue playing as Clem. But who knows? Maybe TT will surprise us.

EDIT: I just don't want her as a protagonist anymore, but not dead.

  • The one thing that season three needs is hubs. The protagonist doesn't really matter, though I'd prefer Clem.

  • But Clem as antagonist means kill Clem and i don't want her to die, even if she would not be season three protagonist but i want her story to continue and don't want her to die. Just like we would play with Kenny or Luke or someone and it cloud be fun to see how our choice are affecting her :)

  • I don't think changing the protagonist will do much other than steer others away from the series, since a lot of people (more than you think) are still with TWDG for the original characetrs. (Clem,Ken,Christa)

  • Clem as antagonist does not mean kill Clem wtf.

Wait you do know Antagonist =/= Protagonist right?

  • Antagonist is the bad guy, right?

    So antagonist often got killed.

And if you mean the second main character then it is Deuteragonist

  • Antagonists don't always get killed, sometimes they live.

And either would work for me.

  • I feel like the walking dead is supposed to be only focused on her story. I wouldn't even play if they turned around and focus on a completely different person that we've never seen. I don't agree with you, but I don't see why you can't think that.

  • Then again, TTG games make her protagonist, if you don't get ready for bitching and complaining of people who don't want change.

  • Playing as a kid was hard to pull off. I think they tried their best but did not push the limits enough.

Ugh again, if you people want to play as an adult in a zombie game, go play another game. There's a shit ton to choose from so get out. Clementine makes TWD special (well atleast for me) since you're a little 11 year old girl in a zombie apocalypse. Seriously how cool is that? There's seriously not alot of games where you play as a little girl in a ZA so don't get me started. Besides, most people who want an adult are people who watch let's plays or don't even support telltale by purchasing their content so they have no right in giving advice at all.

Anyways I hope telltale continues clem's story, still as a little girl and improve season 3.

Do I feel some type of way? Creeped and annoyed, also amazed how one can be so... pathetic? I'd rather not waste my time and comments with you since you are hopeless and I've argued with you before. I always end up proving my point so again, a waste of time. Tell me something new or bring up a good point then I might actually reconsider.

  • To be honest, I agree, and I know that this won't be a popular opinion but I too would like to see a new playable protagonist in Season 3.

That's not to say that I dislike the way that Clem has been used in Season 2; obviously, it hasn't been quite the same as Season 1 with Lee but I love Clem to pieces and I'm not even remotely suggesting that she should be killed off, or even that she shouldn't be present in Season 3. That would be excellent. What I'm advocating is perhaps a new character (and perhaps a group, or partner) who runs into Clem and whoever might be in her group partway through Episode 1. I think that would solve some of the "character development" issues at least partially (provided that it was implemented properly) given that one would assume that an adult character would be more liable to approach and talk to people about their pasts and other such things (as in Season 1) than a child, though I suppose this is something that could also be achieved through the proper implementation of hub areas.

I think it would also be kind of interesting to see how the choices we made with Clem in Season 2, or the events of the story, have affected her, and I think this would be more evident if she were a scripted NPC rather than a playable character whose every choice we dictate. It would make a nice sort of throwback to Season 1, thought obviously without the childhood innocence.

In addition, I've felt so far that Clementine and Kenny (in terms of characters who are still around, so that excludes the likes of Nick and Sarah) are the only characters who have really been "fleshed-out" in Season 2 thus far, and hopefully with at least ONE of them alive by the end of this season and a new playable character, that would mean a bare-minimum of two interesting characters in Season 3, even if the rest of Season 3's roster were to be disappointing.

  • To be honest, I think there's much, much more story to tell with Clementine. She's far from reaching the end of her arc. I for example can't wait for Clem to get to a really good community and see how she'll fit in there after everything she's been through. Clementine is a character complex enough that there's really much to do with her yet.

who said I'm offended? It's not safe to assume things, it's stupid, like what you're doing right now.

  • Ellias,

Ugh, if you people want to......

Seriously I would rather play a adult game as a adult. Season 2 was way to limited.

If you would rather play that, then go ahead nobody is stopping you. And I agree season 2 was really limited, but I consider it limited since there wasn't much hubs but she does the same thing as lee most of the time, there's really no difference since it's a telltale point and click game so.

  • I don't think Clementine's story is over yet even after season 2 is over. Yes it's true that her character has developed from naive idealistic little girl to a hardened pragmatic survivor. But I don't think that's the end road to her journey. Due to her internal struggle her story is far from over. I think Season 2 has focused so much on trying to survive that she forgets who she is. I think Season 3 should focus on her trying to rediscover who she is. In other words finding her human side.

  • I agree with everything you said topic creator. I love Clem she was an awesome protagonist but I'm ready to move on to someone new with different backstory

  • When I read the title, I literally said outloud: "Lemme guess. You want Kenny as season 3 protag."

  • I do want Clem as protagonist in season 3 I don't get why anyone would be upset if she was protaginist in season 3, I thought those peolpe would have left by season 2.

  • That's enough.

  • Well not necessarily the bad guy. The antagonist is the opposite of the protagonist, who is the main character. The protagonist doesn't have to be a good guy either. It could be a rock if anything.

  • I already made a lengthy discussion about this already, but I strongly disagree. Clem can work. Especially since she has so much potential. She's only eleven years old like. And her character arc is ending? No, as a matter of fact I only see it in it's early stages still. Think about it, if Season Two ends with her having to take care of Rebecca's baby wouldn't that be a powerfully symbolic way to represent how Lee took care of her? It would work wonders in the third season in my book if Telltale decided to do that.

Plus I think changing the character at this point would actually ruin it somewhat for many people, Clementine's story has been a personal journey for us too. And if we were to change to a new character who didn't know her all too well... I'd think that would partially ruin the experience.

Too tired to type it all up right now, but I made a discussion about why I think she should STAY as the lead a few days back, linking it below.

    http://www.telltalegames.com/community/discussion/78158/how-clem-can-work-as-the-season-3-protagonist/p4

  • I'd like a different protagonist too. I like the idea of passing the torch to a different character in each Season. Lee's was about his redemption in protecting a little girl and being ethical around her and the fellow survivors. Clementine's is about her taking into account of what Lee taught her and how to grow up in a Zombie Apocalypse.
With a different character, you can try a different character progression for a Season 3 protagonist.
My choices would be as followed:
KENNY : Finding a reason to live and move on with his group.
LUKE : Learning to step up further and learn from his reckless mistakes.
BONNIE : Always been an optimist and idealist, she learns that not everything is black and white .

  • Post gifs to cover up your unreasonable love for clem and how it will ruin Telltale. Good comment. I give this a 2 upvote out of a Facebook like.

  • I think Kenny and Luke will both be dead by the end of Season 2, and Bonnie will be killed off at the beginning of Episode 5.

I'd much rather have either Christa or an entirely new character if the perspective was to move from Clem.
