Killing Clem's parents so early was a bad idea

edited July 2014 in The Walking Dead

If Clem's parents were still alive, it would be really interesting long term objective to have in season 3, which would be a motive for Clem to continue in the apocalypse trying to find them after all these years. Just imagine the moment she meets them. Also I would really like to get to know them more, especially their personalities. From that point it could lead to endless events, conversations and character developments.

In my opinion, one of the reasons that made S1 better than S2 was that it wasn't all about surviving, you had a main objective which was keeping Clem safe. Saving Clementine was our main mission and story.

On the other hand in season 2 all you had to do as Clem was just surviving, meeting new people and keep moving on. There was no actual story or main objective. It was all about surviving, nothing else..

What do you think of killing Clem's parents so early?

  • ITS BEEN A MORE THAN A YEAR AND NOW YOU COMPLAIN?

  • This isn't your average happy ending story. This is TWD. Her parents are dead and I'm glad it is that way because it have development for Clem.

  • 99.9% chance your family will die in the apocalypse.

  • TWD in General is about Survival, there really is no goal at all other than that. It's like what Lee said: "We deal with shit as it comes".

  • I would make since most people would die in the first day of the virus

    I don't 5 episodes later is "early."

Not "nothing else" exactly. While I concede Season 2 focuses more survivalist tendencies, there's also other factors. She still helps out others into her own way like choosing to help Sarah on the roof, and the players also get to influence Clementine's character with dialogue and choices.

I concede that could have been an interesting twist.

    Anyways,have a good day... :)

  • Nah, it would hold her back.

I mean , the whole reason she got kidnapped by the stranger was because she couldn't accept the fact that her parents were dead.

  • No.

Because then she would not have developed as vastly.

  • It would affect her character development and she wouldn't be able to fend herself, like Sarah: she would meet a fate like hers, don't make me think about that...

  • The Apocalypse is pretty much always just about surviving, and what a person has to become in order to survive.

  • The only one who had a parent was sarah... And lilly. It's unlikely for everyone to still have parents.

  • In my opinion... it fit the story perfectly, also in Episode 5 No Time Life, it increased the tension and emotion of the episode and further built up to Lee's death.

  • Telltale wanted to tell a complete story with the first season, and so it wouldn't have done to had the loose ends of Clem's parents be left open. The ending they had, with Lee dying and Clem being left in an uncertain world, was perfect.
