How much does it matter?
In episode 5 do you think giving the man water earlier in the game will potentially pay off somehow? I still can't figure this one out. Unless it was just for Clems character development.

Well i hope it will matter, it probably wont at all though.
The only real connection it has is if you don't give him water you can give it to Pete in the truck. That's it. I'm pretty sure that dude is dead, it seems a bit too late to add him into the picture at this point. Which is why I am concerned about the 400 Days characters. I have a theory that the characters that chose not to go with Tavia will somehow end up in the plot. (Its safe to say the ones in Carver's camp are long dead.) If not, 400 Days was really just a waste of money. They didn't really affect the story at all. They were just cameos in Episode 3.
Meh, it may be a waste of money. But it's enough to make me say OH MAH GAWD, ITS DEAD CARLEY.
If you don't give the dying man or Pete water, you can give it to Rebecca.
It may not really have a big effect, unless someone asks Clementine about her decisions and that character reacts differently towards her depending on the decisions she chose.
