Can Season 1 stand on its own?

edited August 2014 in The Walking Dead

If Season 2 and 400 days never happened, would you think Season 1 could stand on it's own as a story? I think it can stand on its own, I know there is a cliffhanger after the credits, but I would argue that it's an ending left ambiguous rather than setting up upcoming events and I know that episodes 3-5 deal with Clementine growing as a survivor, but I would argue that her arc pays off in small doses and at the end. I heard if you stay silent during the "leave" and "shoot" option in episode 5, depending on what you taught her or said to her during the season, she'll make the decision herself. This is not an attack on Season 2 or Season 3, this is just a question as I heard some folks say that Season 1 was fine on its own. What do you guys think?

  • Yeah, I like sequals such as Season 2 but it's also.fine on its own

  • I also think that it would have not been weird if it ended there, Clem would've shot him or would've left him and she'd take off to survive by herself with what Lee taught her. The protagonist did his job and "left", that's pretty complete to me.

  • It could have been but Telltale would probably have like a riot on their hands.
