What games do you think are overrated?

In my opinion, Skyrim is. I know it's a good game, and the story was sweet, but it's not game of the century or anywhere near it. Compared to the other Elder Scrolls games, it's a step down from it's predecessors in almost every way.

Skyrim for sure. I liked the medieval aspect behind it but the open world aspect of it got a bit annoying and I found it to start getting repetitive.

  • IMO (even though it isn't a bad game by any means) The last of us, I feel this game is definitely wayyyyy too overrated especially considering a lot of the gameplay is combat which gets boring pretty fast.

  • I clicked on this thread wanting to say the exact game you did. It wasn't a bad game by any means,no. But was it as good as the majority of people said it was? No, it wasn't. While I definitely give the game credit in regards to the open world and lore around it, my main gripe with it was the forgettable story and characters.

I played my fair share of hours and I can't remember an instance where I felt anything for any of the characters, or getting any sense of reward and accomplishment after completing one of the factions story line. Strangely enough, I didn't play any of it's predecessors, but I do plan on doing it pretty soon. I'll probably give Skyrim another shot as well....maybe then my opinion will change.

  • Its overrated in the sense I don't like it when people say that the Last of Us is a lot sadder than the Walking Dead. I love Last of Us but the story is no where as good as Walking Dead's.

  • I agree with what you said about Skyrim. The only people that are still playing Skyrim nowadays are the ones on PC, I don't think anyone's playing it anymore on consoles.

Call of Duty is an obvious answer, Gears of War is pretty overrated too. I haven't played Titanfall yet, but it's definitely overrated by now.

Watch Dogs, I think we all know how that turned out to be, so I needn't to do any explaining on that.

  • I agree, the ending wasn't sad at all yet some say it's sadder than the walking dead. LOGIC.

  • The only part that made me sad was Sarah's death at the very beginning. I liked the character development between Joel and Ellie, but I found Ellie quite annoying compared to Clementine. And I liked the father-daughter relationship rather than this survival-partners thing.

  • The Last of Us and Resident Evil 4.

I still liked both, I just think they're overrated.

  • Borderlands games.

Sorry, Telltale. (Not sorry Gearbox, the last good thing you did was Half-Life: Opposing Force IMO)

Last of Us is overrated in some aspects, but still second favorite game.

Man, who the hell says its sadder than TWD ending? In no way was it sad, it actually felt kind of nice.

Skyrim's alright in my book. I don't get the whole rave about it. The thing I didn't really like about Skyrim was the combat. It felt pretty slow to me. This is the reason why I like Fallout better, mostly because if an enemy is bothering me, I could just take out a shotgun, blast them away, and be on my merry way. Also, that whole fantasy genre doesn't really work well with me.

  • Gotta love the merchant though XD

battlefield 4, cod and any fifa game,

battlefield 4 imo is just shit when compared to the others i don't need to explain cod and fifa

  • Yeah, I disliked how early Battlefield 4 was released, and there wasn't really a big change between bf3 and bf4. With the next game on the way, I'm losing hope in the series. It's becoming Call of Duty.

    Don't you do Youtube videos?

  • GTA IV. In terms of hardware it was an improvement, but the design wasn't very good. Liberty City looked and felt boring and lifeless, the story didn't interest me, there are almost zero decent clothes, and outside of the missions and Roman asking you to go bowling, there wasn't much else to do. It was really a return to the arcade style of GTA 1 and 2, but with a third-person view.

  • I just beat Last of Us and it is overrated for a reason. It is fucking amazing.

  • i agree and yea i do do youtube videos :D

  • I agree, GTA IV is my least favorite out of the series. That doesn't mean I hate it though. There was literally nothing to do after the main quest, and almost all side-missions were boring as hell. And multiplayer was a bore also. I hate the whole urban NYC setting. It feels bland and tasteless.

  • As much as I like Skyrim, I will agree it got a lot more credit than it really deserved.

  • The story and the graphics are good, but the gameplay is ungodly repetitive and it can get kinda boring after a while.

  • Agree. I never finished it. My game had too many bugs and I refuse to start over because they released an unfinished game. Oh well... sucks to be the dragonborn I guess.

  • But... RE4 was all about Leon???? Yeah they made him a prick but....(yeah he's my fav >.<) Ashley needed to be thrown into the ocean.

It was fun as hell to play on the Wii though with the pistol and rifle controllers.

  • Nice!? What Joel did was not nice, but extremely selfish.

  • Minecraft! Holy hell that game is boring

  • I bought both fallout new vegas and skyrim off amazon a while back. Fell in love with fallout but absolutely hated skyrim. Fallout just immersed me so much better than skyrim.

Well, with lack of a better word I said nice. I felt like the tone of the ending was nice is what I meant to say. Joel got to save his new "daughter" and live a new life at Tommy's. Also, the way the sun shined on them and how the environment looked felt heartwarming to me.

  • The Binding of Issac.

  • Minecraft. That's coming from me, and I consider Minecraft to be my favorite game. I feel like Gta V and The Last of Us are overrated too, even though they are good. Also, I don't like most multiplayer shooters. Everyone makes such a big deal out of them :\ .

  • I liked Skyrim, but not as much as Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas.
