W&G graphics issues

Setting the graphics quality past 3 causes issues (see image). However, while the game is running, changing the graphics quality yields a properly rendered scene- then time passes and it breaks again. I'm assuming the graphics quality controls what shader the game calls, yet my video card clearly supports those calls if the scenes do render properly some of the time...

All my software is up-to-date. Is there some way to play this game with full graphics fidelity? With the highest graphics settings it really looks much better with all the fancy shading etc.

System:
AMD 2.4 Ghz single core x64
Radeon X800
Windows XP

    If everything is up to date, then that's probably all you can do I'm afraid.

    Too bad! The engine needs some patching!

    The workaround I've found is that switching between different shaders (from 6 to 3 back to 6) provides a stable, mostly glitch free game. So I've been enjoying Wallace's bitmapped sweater with minor issues.

    It's just annoying to load a game and see all the characters rendered without eyeballs until I reset the quality.
